Methods and apparatuses for in situ synthesis of SiC, CMCs, and MMCs are disclosed, comprising: providing an apparatus having: an electromagnetic energy source; an autofocusing scanner; a powder system for SiC and one or more powders; a powder delivery system; a shielding gas comprising argon and/or nitrogen; and a computer coupled to and configured to control the energy source, scanner, powder system, and powder delivery system to deposit layers of the sample; programming the computer with specifications of the sample; using the computer to control electromagnetic radiation, mixing ratio, and powder deposition parameters based on the specifications of the sample; and using the autofocusing scanner to focus and scan the electromagnetic radiation onto the sample while the powders are concurrently deposited by the powder delivery system onto the sample to create a melting pool to deposit one or more layers onto the sample. Method and apparatus for in situ synthesis of SiC, SiC ceramic matrix composites, and SiC metal matrix composites during additive manufacturing

Methods and apparatuses for manufacturing are disclosed, including (a) providing an apparatus having: a laser; scanner; powder injection system; powder spreading system; dichroic filter; imager-and-processor; and computer; (b) programming the computer with specifications of a sample; (c) using the computer to set initial parameters based on the sample specifications; (d) adjusting a stage to position the sample; (e) focusing and scanning electromagnetic radiation onto the sample while powder is concurrently injected onto the sample in order to deposit a layer; (f) capturing two-dimensional images of the sample and probing the sample to determine whether the deposited layer was manufactured per the specifications; (g) use the computer to adjust the three-dimensional manufacturing parameters based on the determination made in step (f) prior to additively manufacturing a subsequent layer or making repairs; and (h) repeating steps (d), (e), (f), and (g) until the manufacture is complete. A switched capacitor voltage converter comprises: an input port; an output port; a first control field-effect transistor (FET) comprising a first terminal coupled to the input port; a second control FET comprising a first terminal coupled to a second terminal of the first control FET; a first tank circuit coupled to the second terminal of the first control FET and to the first terminal of the second control FET; a first high-side sync FET comprising a first terminal coupled to the output port, a second terminal coupled to the first tank circuit; a first low-side sync FET comprising a first terminal coupled to the second terminal of the first high-side sync FET and to the first tank circuit; and a first current sense circuit coupled to the first tank circuit.

Methods and apparatus for determining a value of a pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal with which to drive a power stage of a DC-to-DC voltage converter having an output inductor coupled between the power stage and an output node that is couplable to a load. A plurality of control schemes for determining a value of a PWM signal with which to drive the power stage are maintained. A value of the PWM signal currently driving the power stage is monitored. A value of an inductor current flowing through the output inductor is monitored. A value of a load current being provided to the load is monitored. One of the plurality of control schemes is selected based on the value of the PWM signal currently driving the power stage, the value of the inductor current, and the value of the load current. The selected control scheme is used to determine a value of a PWM signal with which to drive the power stage.

Methods and systems for three-dimensional additive manufacturing of samples are disclosed, including generating electromagnetic radiation from an ultrashort pulse laser, wherein the electromagnetic radiation comprises a wavelength, a pulse repetition rate, a pulse width, a pulse energy, and an average power; focusing the electromagnetic radiation into a focal region; using a powder delivery system comprising a powder vessel, a roller, and a receptacle to deposit one or more powders from the powder vessel into a receptacle at the focal region of the electromagnetic radiation and to spread the one or more powders in the receptacle into a fabrication powder bed; and using a computer to adjust the micro and macro pulses, macro pulse repetition rate, and the average power of the ultrashort pulse laser. Method and apparatus for three-dimensional additive manufacturing with a high energy high power ultrafast laser

Techniques for customizing forwarding decisions in a network device via a hardware lookup table result are provided. In one embodiment, a network processor of the network device can perform a lookup into a lookup table based on one or more sections of a received packet. The network processor can then determine, based on the lookup, an entry in the lookup table and retrieve, using a pointer included in the lookup table entry, a mode value from a results table. The mode value can identify an operational flow (e.g., a series of forwarding decisions) to be carried out by the network processor for forwarding the received packet.

Techniques for customizing forwarding decisions via a hardware lookup result

An exact match lookup system includes a hash function that generates a hash value in response to an input hash key. The hash value is used to retrieve a hash bucket index value from a hash bucket index table. The hash bucket index value is used to retrieve a plurality of hash keys from a plurality of hash bucket tables, in parallel. The retrieved hash keys are compared with the input hash key to identify a match. Hit logic generates an output index by concatenating the hash bucket index value with an address associated with the hash bucket table that provides the matching hash key. An exact match result is provided in response to the output index. A content addressable memory (CAM) may store hash keys that do not fit in the hash bucket tables.

Methods and systems for high speed surface blackening and/or coloring are disclosed, including generating electromagnetic radiation from an ultrashort pulse laser (UPL); coupling the electromagnetic radiation from the UPL to a scanner comprising a scanning and focus range, wherein the scanner is configured to receive the electromagnetic radiation from the UPL and to scan and focus the electromagnetic radiation onto a sample; using a computer to adjust the pulse repetition rate and the energy of the UPL; using a five degree of freedom motorized stage to position the sample; using a dichroic filter positioned between the scanner and the sample; focusing an imager through the dichroic filter and onto the surface of the sample; using a processor to acquire and process images to monitor the surface blackening and/or coloring of the sample within the scanning and focus range of the electromagnetic radiation. Method and apparatus for high speed surface blackening and coloring with ultrafast fiber lasers

Methods and systems for three dimensional large area welding and sealing of optically transparent materials are disclosed, including generating a beam of ultra-short pulses from an ultra-short pulsed laser; directing the beam to an acoustic-optic modulator to control the repetition rate of the beam; directing the beam to an attenuator after passing through the acoustic-optic modulator to control the energy of the beam; directing the beam to a focusing lens after passing through the attenuator to focus the beam between a top substrate and a bottom substrate in order to weld the top substrate to the bottom substrate, wherein the top substrate and the bottom substrate are in intimate contact; and controlling the position of the top substrate and the bottom substrate relative to the beam using a three-axis stage in order to weld the top substrate to the bottom substrate at different points.
