An optical interconnect comprises an input configured to receive light of a plurality of light wavelengths and a plurality of holographic optical elements. Each element configured to reflect one out of the plurality of light wavelengths and allowing others of the plurality of wavelengths to not be reflected. Each of a plurality of prisms is configured to rotate received light at a different angle than any of the other prisms. For each holographic optical element, one of the plurality of prisms is positioned to receive and rotate light reflected by that holographic element. Each of a plurality of beam splitters is positioned to receive light rotated by a respective one of the plurality of prisms and all the plurality of beam splitters direct light to an output of the optical interconnect.

Optical interconnect

An optical apparatus comprises a phase grating, an input-ring array, an output-ring array and an optical interconnect. The phase grating produces a modulated light beam for each of a plurality of processing elements. The modulated light beams have a plurality of light wavelengths. An input-ring array receives the plurality of data modulated light beams. An output-ring array outputs a light beam to each processing element. An optical interconnect transfers light from the input-ring array to the output ring array and uniquely rotates each wavelength of the transferred light.

Optical apparatus using a phase grating

An optical apparatus comprises a 2D-spatial light modulator, an input-ring array, an output-ring array and an optical interconnect. The 2D-spatial light modulator produces a modulated light beam for each of a plurality of processing elements. The modulated light beams have a plurality of light wavelengths. An input-ring array receives the plurality of data modulated light beams. An output-ring array outputs a light beam to each processing element. An optical interconnect transfers light from the input-ring array to the output ring array and uniquely rotates each wavelength of the transferred light.

Optical apparatus using a 2D-spatial light modulator

Data is transferred between a plurality of processors. A plurality of light beams is produced. The light beams have at a particular time a single wave length. The single wavelength is selected from a plurality of wavelengths. Each light beam is uniquely associated with a processor. Each processor selectively modulates data onto its light beam. At a particular time, the selected wavelength of the single wavelength and the processors modulating data onto their light beam is controlled. The plurality of light beams is received at an input ring array. The light beams from the input ring array are transferred to an output ring array. Each light beam is rotated. Each selected wavelength is uniquely associated with a particular rotation. A light beam is output to each processor from the output ring array.

Optical interconnect for high speed processor

An optical interconnect transfers data between a plurality of processors. An input-ring array receivers a plurality of data modulated light beams. Each data modulated light beam has a plurality of light wavelengths and is associated with one of the processors. An output-ring array outputs a light beam to each processor. A plurality of prisms and optical element reflectors transfer light from the input-ring array to the output-ring array and uniquely rotates each wavelength of the transferred light.

An optical interconnect for use with SIMD processors, including holographic-optical elements, dove prisms, beamsplitters and a processor. Laser diodes, with each operating at a different wavelength, generate coherent-light beams at different wavelengths. A fiber combiner, an optical fiber and a fiber splitter are connected to divide output light from the laser diodes into equal path lengths. The output light is modulated by data from a respective SIMD processor. The output light forms an input ring at an input plane. Each holographic-optical element reflects only one wavelength of the output light. Dove prisms perform certain fixed interconnections. Beamsplitters reflect the light from the selected optical channel to an output-ring array.
