Disclosed herein is a method of detecting zinc pyrithione (ZPT) in a sample such as water, waste water, shampoos, etc. The method includes steps of, (a) contacting the sample with a substrate having a layer of metal nanostructure deposited thereon thereby coating the layer of metal nanostructure of the substrate with the sample; and (b) subjecting the sample coated substrate to Raman spectroscopy analysis; wherein, the presence of peaks at 575, 829, 1136 and 1545 cmin Raman spectrum indicates the presence of ZPT in the sample. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, the method may detect ZPT in a concentration ranging from 0.1 ng/mL to 8 μg/mL.

A hard optical film, a method for producing the same and use thereof. The film is an optical film with a nano-dual-phase structure, and features a regulable thickness, high visible light transmittance and hardness, a flat and uniform surface, and a great application prospect. The hard optical film is prepared on a surface of a substrate by magnetron sputtering, having high binding force between the obtained film and the substrate, such that the substrate has a very high hardness, a very strong abrasion resistance and certain corrosion resistance.

The polymer composite material includes a polymer base layer and a metal thin film layer provided on a surface of the polymer base layer. The metal thin film layer is made of amorphous alloy. In this way, the arrangement of the metal thin film with amorphous structure can not only improve the mechanical properties, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the polymer substrate material, but also can greatly improve the toughness of the polymer substrate material, to simultaneously improve the strength and toughness of the polymer material.

A method for microengineering a gradient structure on a metal surface. A metal surface including at least first, second, and third metal surface regions is exposed to a metal-removing agent. A portion of surface metal atoms is removed by the metal-removing agent in each of the first, second, and third metal surface regions. Sequential metal removal processes expose only the second and third regions to the metal-removing agent, followed by exposing only the third region to the metal-removing agent. A gradient metal surface is formed having different properties in each of the first, second, and third metal surface regions. In a further aspect, quantitative surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy may be performed using the treated metal surface. An amount of an analyte is determined based on its position in one of the first, second, or third metal surface regions.

An evaporator for solar desalination and a preparation method thereof and use thereof are provided. The evaporator has a porous skeleton, interconnected channels, and a hydrophobic decoration. The interconnected channels are formed from gaps of the porous skeleton, and the hydrophobic decoration is positioned on the surface of the porous skeleton. The evaporator is for sustainable solar water evaporation even in highly salty water. Specifically, the continuous evaporation for 24 h without salt precipitation in 20 wt % NaCl solution can be realized.

A method for forming a complex shape three-dimensional ceramic article by printing a first layer of a first material having a first fraction of first ceramic particles and a first fraction of a first polymeric ceramic precursor. A second layer is printed such that it is at least partially disposed on the first layer of a second material having a second fraction of second ceramic particles and a second fraction of a second polymeric ceramic precursor. A composite of the first layer and the second layer is heated at a temperature sufficient to decompose the first and second polymeric ceramic precursors and sinter the article. During the sintering process, the first and second layers with different fractions of ceramic particles undergo different degrees of shrinkage, resulting in a tuneable mismatch of the bilayer structure and accurately achieving a targeted geometry.

An ultraflat and ultralow-friction metallic glass thin film is fabricated. The metallic glass thin film is a binary alloy, wherein a content of one metal element of the binary alloy is between 45 atomic % and 64 atomic %. The metallic glass thin film has an atomically smooth surface with a surface roughness Rless than 0.1 nm and a total height of profile Rless than 0.15 nm; the friction coefficient is below 1×10. The present invention provides a method of in situ 4D printing of high-temperature materials including 3D printing a structure of an ink including a precursor. The structure is treated with controlled high energy flow to create a portion which has a different coefficient of thermal expansion/thermal shrinkage ratio. The structure is heated and the difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion creates an interface stress to cause a selected level of deformation. Alternatively, two structures with different coefficients of expansion/thermal shrinkage ratio may be printed. In-situ 4D printing of high-temperature materials

The present invention provides a method of fabricating a catalytic reaction material. A solution of a carbon precursor compound and a noble metal precursor compound is prepared; the carbon precursor compound includes a salt component. The solution is recrystallized the solution to form recrystallized complexes including both the carbon precursor compound and the noble metal precursor compound. The recrystallized complexes are calcined to create a salt template for generation of two-dimensional carbon nanosheets embedding isolated noble metal atoms. Further calcining and washing decomposes the salt template to produce two two-dimensional carbon nanosheets embedding isolated noble metal atoms, each nanosheet having a thickness of approximately 1 to approximately 10 nanometers.

Method of fabricating a material for use in catalytic reactions

A Raman detection system has a Raman spectrometer and a fixing light shielding stand. One end of the fixing light shielding stand is fixedly connected to the Raman spectrometer, and the other end is disposed with an entrance groove for a needle-like SERS probe to enter. A slot for fixing the needle-like SERS probe is formed at an end of the entrance groove, and the slot and the needle-like SERS probe match in shape and size. The Raman detection system has a fixing light shielding device with a dark color groove and a focal length. The groove can be used for limiting the rolling of the curved surface structure of the needle-like SERS probe. A laser can be focused on the curved surface more accurately by adjusting the distance from the instrument detector to the SERS probe.
