The present disclosure provides descriptions of configurations for wire connectors used to splice low voltage electrical conductors or to splice high voltage electrical conductors. The wire connectors may be coupled to form a wire connector assembly. Each wire connector includes a base, a cover, a first cover coupling assembly and a second first cover coupling assembly. The base has an upper wall and a lower wall and can be divided into a first end portion, a second end portion and a central portion between the first end portion and the second end portion. The cover has a main cover member, a first movable cover member movably connected to a first side of the main cover member and a second movable cover member movably connected to a second side of the main cover member. The main cover member includes a plurality of contact chambers, where each contact chamber includes at least one electrical contact positioned within a cavity of the contact chamber. The first cover coupling assembly is associated with the first end portion of the base and the first movable cover member of the cover. The second cover coupling assembly is associated with the second end portion of the base and the second movable cover member of the cover. The cover assemblies are used to releasably couple the movable cover members to the base.

A portable device charging unit includes a battery, a base supporting the battery and including an inductive charging surface, and at least one retainer for selectively securing an electronic device in engagement against the inductive charging surface. In addition, a system may be provided for storing and dispensing one or more device charging units.

Device charging system

A utility conduit system includes a base having a bottom wall, a first side wall extending from the bottom wall, and a second side wall extending from the bottom wall at least partially defining a channel. Various components can be removably positioned in the base to customize the utility conduit system for a given location. Some components can include a universal mounting bracket, a by-pass unit, and a divider bracket.

Utility conduit system

A tamper resistant receptacle having a propeller shutter assembly comprising a propeller shutter comprising a central hub with an annual opening, a pair of radially extending arms, and a wing block disposed on the end of each arm. The shutter assembly also includes an anchor for attaching the propeller to the receptacle body and a spring member to bias the propeller in the 'closed' position. The wing blocks are sized to block a respect one of the hot and neutral openings of a standard 15-amp electrical receptacle. The wing blocks each include a ramp or inclined cam surface. These surfaces are juxtaposed such that when a plug blade hit one surface and cams past it to cause rotation of the propeller, the opposite plug blade cams down and past the other surface to cause rotation of the propeller in the same direction. This configuration causes the propeller to translate vertical force from the plug blades into rotational force in a direction and of sufficient force to overcome the spring bias of the spring and rotate the propeller wing block out of the way of the electrical contacts such that the blades can 'plug in' to the device's electrical contacts.

Tamper resistant receptacle with propeller shutter

A triplex electrical receptacle has a flexible, compact arrangement of bus bars and phase, neutral and ground contacts associated with three outlets. Two outlets are nearest two corners of the body that share a common first side, and the third outlet is between them but closer to the opposite side of the body. A common neutral bus bar (with terminal) is connected to the neutral contacts of all three outlets. The phase bus bar (with terminal) is connected to the phase contacts of at least two of the outlets. One embodiment permanently connects the phase contact of the third outlet to the phase bus bar; another embodiment permanently isolates the third outlet, connecting its phase contact to a separate phase terminal; and an additional embodiment incorporates a separate phase terminal for the third outlet and an optionally severable connection between the third outlet and the first phase terminal.

Bus bar arrangements for multiple outlet electrical receptacles

An electrical receptacle with a body sized to fit in a NEMA-standard single wall box has a substantially rectangular face with phase blade openings, neutral blade openings and ground prong openings associated with respective first, second and third outlets, each outlet having a centerline passing through its ground prong opening parallel to its phase and neutral blade openings. The centerline of the first outlet is oblique to the edges of the face and oblique to the centerline of at least one other outlet. The centerlines of all of the outlets may be mutually nonparallel, and they may be mutually oblique. The centerline of the second outlet may be parallel to an edge of the face; and if so, the centerline of the third outlet may be either perpendicular to or parallel to the centerline of the second outlet. In a preferred arrangement, the centerlines are mutually nonparallel, and the ground prong openings of two of the outlets are located at corners of the face that share a common longer edge. All of the arrangements simultaneously accommodate plugs, chargers and transformers of many known sizes and types.
