A service network for access procedure enhancement includes a radio access network performing wireless transmissions and receptions to and from a mobile communication device. The service network also includes a control node receiving an access probe from the mobile communication device via the radio access network, determining whether the access probe indicates that a length of message data is less than a threshold, and transmitting a pre-acknowledgement of the access probe to the mobile communication device via the radio access network in response to the length of the message data being less than the threshold.

A wireless communications device is provided with a plurality of card slots, a first wireless communications module, and a second wireless communications module. The card slots are inserted with at least one subscriber identity card. The first wireless communications module performs wireless transceiving in compliance with at least a first wireless technology. The second wireless communications module determines at least a first subscriber number and a second subscriber number from the at least one subscriber identity card, and enables the wireless transceiving of the first wireless communications module using the first subscriber number. Apparatuses and methods for coordinating operations of multiple wireless communications modules with multiple subscriber numbers

Mobile communication devices and integrated circuits thereof are provided. The mobile communication device, communicating with a packet switched network and a second network, includes a transceiver, a first PLL circuit and a controller. When exchanging an ongoing data transmission with the packet switched network, the transceiver transmits a first message to the packet switched network, which indicates the mobile communication device will be tuned away from the packet switched network, and performs a subsequent procedure for the second network. The first PLL circuit provides a first clock to the transceiver. When the ongoing data transmission with the packet switched network is not completed, the controller controls the first PLL circuit to switch the first clock from a first clock frequency to a second clock frequency after the transceiver transmits the first indication message.

A mobile communication device for access procedure enhancement is provided. In the mobile communication device, a wireless module performs wireless transmissions and receptions to and from a service network. Also, a controller module transmits an access probe to the service network via the wireless module, and retransmits the access probe in response to not receiving an acknowledgement of the access probe from the service network via the wireless module in a waiting period of time. The waiting period of time is determined according to a coherence-time related offset. The controller module further repeats the retransmission of the access probe until the acknowledgement of the access probe is received from the service network via the wireless module.

A system and method of enhancing transmission of highly detectable pilots (HDPs). At least one base station transmits at least one cellular signal in which each cellular signal includes repetitive HDP cycles. Each HDP cycle has a duration of N power control groups (PCGs) and includes an HDP period having a duration of M PCGs in which N is greater than M. Traffic and overhead channels are gated during each HDP period. An enhanced HDP symbol is transmitted during a selected HDP period for each set of X HDP cycles of each cellular signal. For single carrier configurations, only one enhanced HDP is transmitted at a time, or multiple HDPs are transmitted in different directions. Standard 1x pilots may be transmitted. The enhanced HDP may be a boosted standard 1x pilot or an additional standard HDP pilot. Multicarrier configurations are described with PCG or sub-chip and/or phase offsets.

System and method of enhanced pilots for improved mobile station positioning

A mobile communication device is provided with a wireless module and a controller module. The wireless module performs wireless transceiving to and from a service network. The controller module receives, on a paging channel, a first predetermined number of symbols in a frame of a time slot via the wireless module, and determines whether to enter a standby mode according to the first predetermined number of symbols. Also, the controller module stops the receiving of subsequent symbols in the frame by deactivating the wireless module in response to entering the standby mode.

The cell selector is coupled to the power estimator, and is configured to select one or more base stations within the active set registry for selective blanking of a corresponding one or more of the plurality of pilot signals during a soft handoff operation. The feedback channel generator is coupled to the cell selector, and is configured to generate a cell selection feedback signal indicating the one or more base stations, where the cell selection feedback signal is subsequently transmitted to the one or more base stations, and where the cell selection feedback signal directs the one or more base stations to perform the selective blanking.
