A method includes determining a first estimate of leaf positions for a plurality of leaves of a multi-leaf collimator (MLC) in a reference coordinate space based on an image generated by an image-based aperture verification system, wherein the leaf positions for the plurality of leaves define an aperture for the MLC. The method further includes determining a second estimate of the leaf positions for the plurality of leaves in the reference coordinate space based on data from an additional source. The method further includes verifying the leaf positions for the plurality of leaves based on comparing the first estimate to the second estimate, wherein the leaf positions are verified if the first estimate deviates from the second estimate by less than a threshold value.

Verification of leaf positions for multi-leaf collimator using multiple verification systems

A radiation delivery system includes a multi-leaf collimator (MLC) that includes a housing, a plurality of leaves disposed within the housing, and an image sensor disposed within the housing at a position that is offset from a beam axis. The plurality of leaves are movable to define an aperture for the MLC, and the image sensor is directed toward the plurality of leaves. The image sensor is to generate an oblique-view image of the aperture. The radiation delivery system additionally includes a processing device to receive the oblique-view image, transform the oblique-view image into a top-view image having a reference coordinate space, and determine whether the aperture for the MLC corresponds to a specified aperture based on the top-view image.

Image-based aperture verification system for multi-leaf collimator

A method of ambient light suppression in an imaging system, including illuminating leaves of a multi-leaf collimator (MLC) with a first light of a lighting system inside a housing of the MCL, receiving ambient light inside the housing of the MLC through an aperture of the MLC, and capturing, using an imaging system having optics situated inside the housing of the MLC, an image of the leaves of the MLC illuminated with the first light and the ambient light. The method may further include, suppressing the ambient light in the first image to generate a second image of the leaves of the MLC and detecting a feature of the leaves of the MLC in the second image.

An apparatus includes a portion that moves along a guided path and a displacement gauge that outputs readings based on the portion's position on the guided path. The apparatus additionally includes an intermediate limit switch that is activated in response to the portion being moved to an intermediate position on the guided path. The apparatus also includes a processing device configured to calibrate the apparatus based on a first reading corresponding to a first position on the guided path and a second reading corresponding to a second position on the guided path. The processing device verifies the calibration based on a third reading corresponding to the intermediate position.

A method for scanning a stream of objects includes continuously acquiring raw data of the stream of objects using an X-ray system including a detector, determining a leading edge and a trailing edge of a first object of the stream of objects from the raw data acquired by the detector using a control system, processing acquired raw data of the first object based on the determined leading edge and the determined trailing edge using the control system, and reconstructing an image of the first object using at least the processed raw data. A system configured to perform the method is also disclosed.

Method and systems for scanning a stream of objects

A method for generating an image of an object using a scanning system includes performing a first portion of a scan in a first scanning mode to acquire a first dataset, receiving a halt command for a conveyor within the scanning system, decelerating the conveyor to a halt based on the halt command using a conveyor controller, and, when the object is present within an examination region after the conveyor has halted, performing a second portion of the scan in a second scanning mode to acquire a second dataset. The second scanning mode is different than the first scanning mode. The method also includes reconstructing the first dataset using a first reconstruction algorithm and reconstructing the second dataset using a second reconstruction algorithm. The second reconstruction algorithm is different than the first reconstruction algorithm. The image is generated using the first reconstructed dataset and the second reconstructed dataset.
