The first ephemeral message can be provided to a social networking system for distribution to the group of recipients through the first unified message thread, wherein both ephemeral messages and non-ephemeral messages are exchanged between the group of recipients through the same first unified message thread.

The message can be provided for distribution to the group of users through the unified message thread.
