A Passive Optical Networks (PONs) structure and a remote node in such a structure constituting at least a part of a backhaul network for supporting a Radio Access Network, in which a number of radio base stations are connected to optical networks units (ONUs) of said PONs structure. The ONUs of said PONs structure are grouped between separate PONs of said PONs structure. The ONUs of a separate PON are interconnected passively through a remote node of the PON in order to separate inter base station traffic of X2 interfaces from uplink and downlink data traffic of S1 interface heading from/to a core network via an optical line terminal (OLT). The remote node comprises of power splitter for enabling interconnection between ONUs of different PONs of said PONs structure.

Passive optical networks structure and a remote node in a backhaul communication network

A first transceiver and a method performed by the first transceiver for monitoring a fiber cable. The first transceiver is connectable to a second transceiver by the fiber cable. The transceivers employ SCM analog modulation where baseband is dedicated for monitoring and the subcarriers are dedicated for data transmission. The method comprises receiving, from a device, at least one electromagnetic data signal to be transmitted towards the second transceiver on the fiber cable, and shifting the at least one data signal in the frequency domain. The method further comprises generating an electromagnetic test signal in a base band, combining the at least one data signal and the generated test signal, and modulating the combined data signal and test signal to respective optical carrier. The method further comprises transmitting the modulated data signal and generated test signal on the fiber cable towards the second transceiver.

Transceiver and method for monitoring of SCM transmission on fibre cable

It is disclosed a remote node connectable to multiple feeder fibers from one or more central offices, COs, of a wavelength division multiplexing-based passive optical network, WDM-based PON. The remote node comprises one or more splitters each configured to receive a monitoring signal on a connected feeder fiber and to split the monitoring signal into split monitoring signals, wherein the monitoring signal uses one wavelength at a time out of a group of different wavelengths, and an arrayed waveguide grating, AWG, with output ports connectable to drop fibers. The AWG is configured to route the split monitoring signals to output ports of said AWG based on a currently used wavelength of said group of different wavelengths, for supervising drop fibers connected to the output ports. Also, a method for a remote node in the WDM-based PON, of routing a monitoring signal, is disclosed.

Routing in a WDM-based PON

Wireless communication systems are provided including a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is configured to transmit a first polarized signal and a second polarized signal to the receiver, and in accordance with an instruction from the receiver, halt transmission of the second polarized signal. The receiver is configured to receive the polarized signals from the transmitter, determine whether or not the reception quality of the second polarized signal is below a threshold, and if so, instruct the transmitter to halt transmission of the second polarized signal.

Optical communications networks, optical line terminations and related methods

An arrangement at a Remote Node, a Remote Node, a Central Office, a WDM-PON and a method in an arrangement at a Remote Node, and a method in a Central Office are provided for supervision of the WDM-PON. The arrangement comprises at least one filter connected to the feeder fiber links and adapted to separate a data signal and an original OTDR signal received on either of the feeder fiber links. Further, the arrangement comprises a first splitter adapted to receive, from the at least one filter, the original OTDR signal, to split the original OTDR signal into a plurality of OTDR sub-signals and to output, to an N*M AWG, the plurality of OTDR sub-signals. The at least one filter is further adapted to output the original OTDR signal to the first splitter and to output the data signal to the AWG, thereby enabling supervision of the WDM-PON.
