The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an ophthalmic preparation comprising thymosin &#x3b2;4. According to the inventive method, the manufacture of an ophthalmic preparation comprising thymosin &#x3b2;4 is carried out in the presence of an inert gas, thus the contact of thymosin &#x3b2;4 with oxygen is blocked and the oxidation of thymosin &#x3b2;4 can be prevented and the pharmacological activity of thymosin &#x3b2;4 maintains for long-term period. Therefore, the ophthalmic preparation prepared by the inventive method can maintain the pharmacological activity of thymosin &#x3b2;4 in a stable state for a long time.

The present invention relates to a therapeutic agent for ophthalmic disease containing thymosin beta 4. The present invention is more effective in reducing xerophthalmia than an ophthalmic solution containing cyclosporine A, is less irritant to eyes than conventional ophthalmic solutions and is physiochemically safe.

The present invention relates to a composition for the treatment or prevention of a corneal injury, which comprises thymosin &#x3b2;4, and citric acid or its salt as active ingredients. The composition may further comprise at least one organic acid selected from acetic acid, ascorbic acid or salts thereof. The composition can maintain or increase the activity of thymosin &#x3b2;4 conventionally used to effectively treat wounds on the cornea, and thus, is useful as an ophthalmic formulation for treating the corneal injury.
