An ultrasound imaging method and apparatus forms high-quality color ultrasound images by using variable power threshold levels depending on pixel position. The method comprises the steps of determining a power threshold level that is varied depending on a noise, transmitting ultrasound signals from at least one transducer array to a target object, receiving a first signal including a signal reflected from the target object mixed with a noise, and imaging an ultrasound image of the target object corresponding to the first signal when the power level of the first signal is greater than the variable power threshold level. The apparatus comprises one or more transducers for transmitting an ultrasound signal to an object and receiving a first signal including a reflected signal from the object mixed with a noise; and a digital signal processor for forming an ultrasound image of the object corresponding to the first signal when a power level of the first signal is greater than a variable power threshold level.

An ultrasound diagnostic apparatus and method for measuring a blood flow velocity effectively select one of the positive frequency range and the negative frequency range to compute noise threshold, and determine a reliability of the computed noise threshold. A sample data generator samples a reflected signal of the ultrasound signal transmitted into a human body. A frequency distribution data generator processes the sample data, and generates a frequency distribution data including a number of frequency components. A first determiner selects one of a positive frequency range and a negative frequency range of the frequency distribution data. A second determiner determines a noise threshold by using a predetermined number of frequency components within the frequency range selected by the first determiner. A third determiner determines a peak frequency component having the highest frequency among the frequency components. Each frequency component has a power level higher than the noise threshold, and the peak frequency component corresponds to the peak blood frequency velocity.

Ultrasound diagnostic apparatus and method for measuring blood flow velocity using doppler effect

An ultrasound diagnostic system and a method for the same update a pulse repetition frequency(PRF) by sensing an aliasing of a sampled data. A sample data generator generates sample data by transmitting an ultrasound signal into a human body and sampling a reflected signal of the ultrasound signal. A frequency distribution data generator generates a frequency distribution data by processing the sample data. A blood flow velocity detector determines a blood flow velocity on the basis of the frequency distribution data. An aliasing detector detects whether or not an aliasing occurs in the frequency distribution data. The aliasing detector computes a peak index corresponding to the fastest blood flow velocity component among the frequency components comprising the frequency distribution data, selects a frequency range having the largest sum of power levels of the frequency components between a positive frequency range and a negative frequency range, compares the selected frequency range with the peak index, and determines whether an aliasing occurs or not.
