A server-based desktop-virtual machines architecture may be extended to a client machine. In one embodiment, a user desktop is remotely accessed from a client system. The remote desktop is generated by a first virtual machine running on a server system, which may comprise one or more server computers. During execution of the first virtual machine, writes to a corresponding virtual disk are directed to a delta disk file or redo log. A copy of the virtual disk is created on the client system. When a user decides to 'check out' his or her desktop, the first virtual machine is terminated (if it is running) and a copy of the delta disk is created on the client system. Once the delta disk is present on the client system, a second virtual machine can be started on the client system using the virtual disk and delta disk to provide local access to the user's desktop at the client system. This allows the user to then access his or her desktop without being connected to a network.

Extending server-based desktop virtual machine architecture to client machines

Predictive rendering (also referred to herein as speculative rendering) is disclosed. The predictive rendering is performed by an endpoint browser in response to a user input made by a user. The predictive rendering is verified using a surrogate browser that is executed on a remote server. The verification can be performed asynchronously.

Bandwidth throttling in a browser isolation environment is disclosed. A request is received from a client browser executing on a client device to connect to a website. The browser isolation system provides a surrogate browser to facilitate communications between the client browser and the remote resource. A throttle is applied to a portion of content delivered to the client browser in response to the received request.

Bandwidth throttling in a browser isolation environment is disclosed. A request is received from a client browser executing on a client device to connect with a remote resource. The browser isolation system provides a surrogate browser to facilitate communications between the client browser and the remote resource. A throttle is applied to a portion of content delivered to the client browser in response to the received request.

A server is in communication with a plurality of clients being executed by a host. The server is configured to receive a message from a first client of the plurality of clients. The message indicates that the first client currently has focus, wherein the message is transmitted by the first client with a first cookie. The server is configured to identify that a second client of the plurality of clients utilizes a second cookie that matches the first cookie, wherein the second client is currently receiving data from the server using a low-latency update mechanism. The server is also configured to downgrade the second client from the low-latency update mechanism to a high-latency update mechanism, wherein the high-latency update mechanism is configured to enable the second client to conduct a poll of the server periodically for updates.

Systems and methods for transmitting data

A computer implemented method for maintaining synchronization between a master computer disk and a clone disk that includes cloning the clone disk from the master computer disk, the clone disk having a customization portion; and customizing the customization portion with information relevant to a clone computer that uses the clone disk.
