A method for automatic anonymous visitor identity resolution using machine learning, which includes generating a visitor histogram set from visitor events of a visitor event stream that include a visitor identifier and an internet protocol address, filtering a set of user identifiers into a candidate set of user identifiers based on the internet protocol address, obtaining one or more user histogram sets generated from user events that include user identifiers from the candidate set of user identifiers, and mapping the visitor identifier to a user identifier of the candidate set of user identifiers using a machine learning model and a histogram similarity matrix generated from the visitor histogram set, the one or more user histogram sets, and a set of histogram similarity functions. The method further includes presenting a response based on the mapping of the visitor identifier to the user identifier.

The present invention provides an apparatus and method for encoding, storing, transmitting and decoding multimedia information in the form of scalable, streamed digital data. A base stream containing basic informational content and subsequent streams containing additive informational content are initially created from standard digital multimedia data by a transcoder. Client computers, each of which may have different configurations and capabilities are capable of accessing a stream server that contains the scalable streamed digital data. Each different client computer, therefore, may access different stream combinations according to a profile associated with each different client computer. Thus, the streams accessed from the server are tailored to match the profile of each client computer so that the best combination of streams can be provided to maximize the resolution of the 3D, audio and video components.

A system and method is provided for revising the time stamp information in an MPEG-2 transport stream after content in the transport stream is modified. According to one method, successive PCR time stamps previously added to the transport stream are used to determine PCRtime stamps for synchronization points in the transport stream by interpolation. The PCRtime stamps are substituted into transport packets within the transport stream. The PCRis also used to determine modified time of arrival (TOA) stamps to be added to transport packets. According to a second method, PCR interpolation is used to determine the values of PCR. TOA interpolation of TOA stamps previously added to the transport stream are used to determine modified TOA stamps to be substituted into the transport stream for the previously added TOA stamps.

A method and system are disclosed for controlling the generation of a systems layer stream, such as a transport stream, that carries a program made up of at least one elementary stream, such as an encoded audio signal or an encoded video signal. The systems layer stream is made up of serial segments, such as packets, which contain information specific to the systems layer, such as headers, and segments of elementary stream data. The bit rate of one or more of the elementary streams is adapted in accordance with a dynamically changing relation that relates the bit rate of such elementary streams to the bit rate of the portion of the systems layer stream that carries them.

A system and method is provided for revising the time stamp information in an MPEG-2 encoded data transport stream after content in the transport stream is modified. Incoming packets are stamped with arrival times and packet sequence counts. Synchronization points within the elementary stream are identified and arrival times for those synchronization points are calculated. After elementary streams are modified, commensurate arrival times are calculated based on arrival times and packet sequence counts of incoming packets, as well as the arrival times of the identified synchronization points within the elementary stream and the bit ratio between the incoming packets and the modified outgoing packets. Calculated arrival times are stamped on the outgoing packets and used to time the output of the outgoing stream.

A method of reducing the memory required for decompression of a compressed frame by storing frames in a compressed format using DCT compression and decoders for implementing such a method are disclosed. The decoder is coupled to a memory where the frame can be stored. The decoder includes a decoder module having a parser, a block decoder module and a motion compensation engine. The decoder module is coupled to a DCT encoder module, which has an output coupled to the memory. The decoder also includes a stored DCT decoder module, which has an input coupled to the memory, a first output coupled to the motion compensation module and a second output that functions as an output of the decoder. In operation, any prediction frames needed for motion compensation decompression of the compressed frame are decompressed in the stored DCT decoder module. The compressed frame is decompressed in the decoder module to obtain a decompressed frame. The decompressed frame is compressed in the DCT encoder module to obtain a recompressed frame. The recompressed frame is then stored in memory. In a DCT based decoder, this is only performed for frames having interpicture prediction errors, such as P and B frames. Frames that do not have interpicture prediction errors, such as I frames can by-pass most of the decoder module, and all of the DCT encoder module. The compressed frame can be stored in the memory without having been decompressed and recompressed.

Method and apparatus that provides a scalable media delivery system

A method of a storing a picture in a memory such that bandwidth can be reduced when retrieving an array portion of the picture from the memory, and a memory architecture are disclosed. The memory is subdivided into a plurality of words for storing a picture having rows and columns. The picture is partitioned into two or more stripes each having a predetermined number of columns. The number of bytes in one row of one stripe is equal to the number of bytes in one word, for storing the data in one row of a stripe in one word. For the case of progressive video sequences or images the memory is organized in frame structure. For the case of interlaced video sequences or images, the memory is organized in field structure. For a frame picture to be stored in a frame organized memory or a field picture to be stored in a field organized memory, the data in the first row of one of the stripes is stored in a first word. The data in each subsequent row of the stripe is stored in a word having a word address adjacent and subsequent to the word storing the data of the directly preceding row. For a frame picture to be stored in a field organized memory, the odd rows are stored together according the above mapping scheme in a first memory buffer, and the even rows are stored together according to the above mapping scheme in a second memory buffer.

Circuits and methods for subdividing a decoder into functional blocks that can be accessed separately. The decoder includes a decoder module having a parser, a block decoder and a motion compensation engine, which can all be further subdivided into functional blocks. The functional blocks can be bypassed in decompressing frames where the blocks are not necessary, or when the compression algorithm does not require the functional block, increasing the speed of the decoder. The functional blocks can also be reused for decompression or compression based on different standards, or for different operation in the decoder, such as decompression and compression. The decoder can be coupled to a processor and some of the functional block performed in the decoder's hardware and some are performed in the processor. In one embodiment of the invention and the processor determines which block are to be by-passed completely and which block are to be performed in software based on the decompression protocol to which the compressed frame is encoded to comply to, the capacity and speed of the processor, and the available memory. In another embodiment multiplexers can be added to the decoder to connect functional blocks so they can be by-passed or reused based on preprogramming of the multiplexers based on the decompression protocol to which the compressed frame is encoded to comply to, the capacity and speed of the processor, and the available memory.
