Embodiments are directed to a stretch hood or stretch label multilayer film comprising a first skin layer, a second skin layer, and a core layer disposed between the first skin layer and the second skin layer, wherein: the first skin layer, the second skin layer, or both independently comprise at least 50 wt. % of a linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) resin, wherein the skin LLDPE resin exhibits each of the following properties: a Crystallization Elution Fractionation (CEF) fraction of less than 8% above an elution temperature of 94&#xb0; C.; and a melt index (I) of 0.1 to 2.0 g/10 min when measured according to ASTM D 1238 at a load of 2.16 kg and temperature of 190&#xb0; C. The core layer comprises a polyethylene resin having a wt. % crystallinity of from 10% to 40% and a single melting peak as measured by differential scanning calorimetry.

Multilayer stretch hood compositions and structures

The present disclosure provides a linear low density polyethylene composition, tapes, fibers and filaments, artificial turfs, and method of making the same. The linear low density polyethylene composition according to the present disclosure exhibits each of the following properties: (1) a CEF fraction from 70 to 90&#xb0; C. of equal to or greater than 80% of the total CEF fractions; (2) a melt index, I, measured according to ASTM D 1238 (2.16 kg @190&#xb0; C.), in the range of equal to or greater than 2.0 g/10 min and equal to or less than 5.0 g/10 min; and (3) a melt flow ratio, I/I, of equal to or less than 6.7.

Artificial turfs and method of making the same

The present disclosure provides breathable films and method of making the same. The breathable films according to the present disclosure comprise a film layer comprising polymeric composition comprising equal to or less than 60 wt % of a linear low density polyethylene resin which exhibits each of the following properties: (1) a CEF fraction from 70 to 90 C of equal to or greater than 80% of the total CEF fractions; (2) a melt index, I2, measured according to ASTM D 1238 (2.16 kg @190C), in the range of equal to or greater than 2.0 g/10 min and equal to or less than 5.0 g/10 min; and (3) a melt flow ratio, 110/12, of equal to or less than 6.7.

Breathable films and method of making the same

The present disclosure provides linear low density polyethylene compositions, films and method of making the same. The linear low density polyethylene compositions, according to the present disclosure, exhibit each of the following properties: (1) a CEF fraction from 70 to 90 C of equal to or greater than 80% of the total CEF fractions; (2) a melt index, I2, measured according to ASTM D 1238 (2.16 kg @190 C), in the range of from 0.8 to 1.2 g/10 minutes; and (3) a melt flow ratio, I10/I2, in the range of from 7.0 to 8.0.

Polyethylene composition, method of making the same, and films made therefrom

The present invention relates to nonwoven webs or fabrics. In particular, the present invention relates to nonwoven webs having superior abrasion resistance and excellent softness characteristics. The nonwoven materials comprise monocomponent fibers having a surface comprising a polyethylene, said nonwoven material having a fuzz/abrasion of less than 0.7 mg/cm. The present invention is also related to fibers having a diameter in a range of from 0.1 to 50 denier, said fibers comprising a polymer blend, wherein the polymer blend comprises: from 40 weight percent to 80 weight percent (by weight of the polymer blend) of a first polymer which is a homogeneous ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer having: a melt index of from about 1 to about 1000 grams/10 minutes, and a density of from 0.870 to 0.950 grams/centimeter, and from 74 to 20 percent by weight of a second polymer which is an ethylene homopolymer or an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer having a melt index of from about 1 to about 1000 grams/10 minutes, and preferably a density which is at least 0.01 grams/centimetergreater than the density of the first polymer.

Fibers for polyethylene nonwoven fabric

The instant invention is a polyethylene film, and method of making the same. The polyethylene film according to instant invention includes at least one heterogeneously branched ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer having a density in the range of about 0.910 to about 0.930 g/cm, a molecular weight distribution in the range of about 2.8 to 3.8, a melt index (I) in the range of about 0.3 to about 4 g/10 min, and an I/Iratio in the range of 6.5 to about 7.8. The film has a normalized dart impact strength of equal or greater than (6666-7012*density) g/mil, a normalized tear strength of equal or greater than (440*e&#x2212;(density&#x2212;0.915)/2*(0.00949)) g/mil, and a haze in the range of 3 to 10 percent. The method of making the polyethylene film according to instant invention includes the following steps: (1) providing at least one heterogeneously branched ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer having a density in the range of about 0.910 to about 0.930 g/cm, a molecular weight distribution in the range of about 2.8 to 3.8, a melt index (I) in the range of about 0.3 to about 4 g/10 min, and an I/Iratio in the range of 6.5 to about 7.8; (2) processing the heterogeneously branched ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer via blown film extrusion process or cast film extrusion process; and (3) thereby forming a film having a normalized dart impact strength of equal or greater than (6666-7012*density) g/mil, a normalized tear strength of equal or greater than (440*e&#x2212;(density&#x2212;0.915)/2*(0.00949)) g/mil, and a haze in the range of 3 to 10 percent.

Polyethylene films and method of making the same

The invention is directed to a composition suitable for use in a single-sided stretch cling film, the composition having from 0.1 to 20 percent by weight of a propylene-based copolymer having substantially isotactic propylene sequences, and having from 80 to 99 percent by weight of an ethylene-based copolymer having a density of at least 0.905 g/cc, wherein a film made from the composition exhibits cling layer to release layer cling of at least 70 grams force per inch as measured by ASTM D-5458-95, noise levels of less than 87 dB during unwinding operations, and has a modulus of at least 3 MPA as determined by ASTM D-882.

Composition suitable for single-sided, low-noise, stretch cling film and films made therefrom

The invention is directed to a composition suitable for high gloss air quenched blown films. The films are comprised of from 2 to 15 percent by weight of a substantially isotactic propylene-based copolymer having a melt flow rate of at least 5 g/10 minutes and having from 8 to 21 mole percent units derived from an alpha olefin; and from 85 to 98 percent by weight of an ethylene-based copolymer having a melt index of from 0.1 to 9 g/10 minutes. An air quenched blown film made from the inventive composition exhibits a value for gloss greater than the value for gloss exhibited by an air quenched blown film made solely from the ethylene-based copolymer.

Composition suitable for high gloss blown film and films made therefrom

Stretch films which exhibit good puncture and impact resistance while also exhibiting resistance to defect propagation are desired. The films of the present invention have an ultimate stretch of at least 200 percent, a dart impact strength of at least about 700 gms/mil and a catastrophic failure stretch of at least 95 percent of the elongation to break value (CF of 5 or less). The films preferably comprise at least 3 layers and preferably comprise at least 50 percent by weight of polyethylene polymers.

Films with superior impact resistance and improved catastrophic failure resistance under high strain rate

Film layers made from formulated ethylene polymer compositions are disclosed. Film layers made from such formulated compositions have surprisingly good heat seal properties, and an especially good reduction in heat seal initiation temperature. The ethylene polymer compositions have at least one homogeneously branched ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer and at least one homogeneously or heterogeneously branched ethylene polymer which has a lower melt index than the first mentioned component. The first homogeneously branched ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer has a melt index higher than that of the formulated composition.
