The present disclosure is directed a method and device for unlatching a clip. The clip may have first and second leg members, the first leg member having a hook member and the second leg member having a tip member restrained by the hook member in the latched configuration. The method may include receiving the clip between first and second jaw members of a device and engaging the hook member of the first leg member with a wall of the second jaw member. The method may further include pressing on an outer surface of the first leg member with the first jaw member to open the hook member and release the clip from the latched configuration and receiving the tip member in a channel of the second jaw member after being unrestrained by the hook member where the tip member is spaced apart from the hook member.

Device and method for unlatching a surgical clip

An automatically locking safety device, e.g., for use in a blood collection procedure, can include a housing, first and second needle covers that are at least partly received in the housing, and a needle that is at least partly received in at least one of the first and second needle covers. The needle can include a proximal tip configured for placement into a patient and a distal tip configured for placement into a blood collection vial. In some embodiments, the first and second needle covers are biased by a biasing member. In some cases, one or both of the first and second needle covers can be locked to prevent axial movement thereof after the blood collection procedure. In certain embodiments, a distal end of the device is configured to connect with a medical connector, such as a needleless IV access device.

An engagement mechanism associated with a reciprocally movable piston of a fluid injector is configured for releasably engaging an engagement portion at a proximal end of a rolling diaphragm syringe having a flexible sidewall configured for rolling upon itself when acted upon by the piston. The engagement mechanism has a plurality of engagement elements reversibly and radially movable relative to the engagement portion of the syringe between a first position, where the plurality of engagement elements are disengaged from the engagement portion of the syringe, and a second position, where the plurality of engagement elements are engaged with the engagement portion of the syringe. The engagement mechanism further has a drive mechanism for moving the plurality of engagement elements between the first position and the second position.

The anti-back-flow devices and methods prevent fluid from leaking proximally from a catheter, but allow ready access to the catheter using any male luer device. The devices include proximal surfaces that urge open a valve in response to force from a male luer tip. The valves are associated a female luer hub and adapted to function with standard and typical non-standard male luer fittings.

Embodiments described herein relate generally to medical implant delivery apparatuses and methods. In some embodiments, an apparatus comprises a first cap, a needle hub at least partially disposed within the first cap, a pusher wire and a pusher wire connector disposed within the needle hub, a needle and a second cap. The first cap includes a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis. The needle includes a first, beveled end configured to receive an implant, and a second end disposed within a hub pocket of the needle hub. The second cap is connected to the needle hub and disposed at a proximal end of the first cap. The pusher wire, the pusher wire connector, and the needle are substantially aligned with one another along the longitudinal axis of the first cap. In some embodiments, the pusher wire is sized to be received in the bore of the needle.

Implant applicators and methods of administering implants

A filtered needle for use in administering a liquid payload, including a needle and connector portion and a filtering needle cap. The filtering needle cap including a distal open end in fluid communication via an internal channel with a proximal open end of the filtering needle cap. The filtering needle cap proximal end sized to receive the distal end of the hub within the proximal end of the filtering needle cap to reversibly engage the hub when needle distal end is inserted into the internal channel. The filtering needle cap including a filter element and a seal to seal around an outside diameter of the hollow needle so that liquid payload is drawn into the lumen in the hollow needle as liquid payload is filtered and drawn into the fluid fitting. The filtering needle cap is designed to limit a dead volume of liquid payload drawn into the filtering needle cap but not entering into the distal end of the hollow needle.
