A molded container of plastic material. The molded container including a neck finish defining an opening into the molded container, a body extending from the neck finish and including a shoulder adjacent the neck finish, a base defining a closed end of the container, and a sidewall extending between the shoulder and the base. Formed on a surface of the container and being defined by the plastic material forming the container are a series of raised dots defining a tactile writing feature.

An apparatus and method for simultaneously forming and filling a plastic container without the use of a mold forming a mold cavity () is provided. A pressure source () includes an inlet () and a piston-like device (). The piston-like device () is moveable in a first direction wherein liquid is drawn into the pressure source () through the inlet () and in a second direction wherein the liquid is urged toward the preform (). A blow nozzle () may be adapted to receive the liquid from the pressure source () and transfer the liquid at high pressure (P) into the preform () thereby urging the preform () to freely expand until an unopened end thereof contacts a platen (). The platen () forms a bottom in a resultant container. The liquid remains within the container as an end product.

A method of forming a container () and a container () formed thereby. A preform (), having a generally cylindrical body () extending between a closed end () and an open mouth, is placed within a mold () having surfaces corresponding in shape to the desired container (). An incompressible medium, which is the end product that remains in the molded container (), is injected under pressure into the preform (). Under the influence of the incompressible medium, the preform () is expanded into contact with the surfaces defining the cavity, simultaneously forming and filling the container (). During expanding of the preform (), portions of the plastic material are forced into a series of recesses () defined in the cavity surface (). With the incompressible medium contained therein, the container () is removed from the mold () and including a series of raised dots corresponding to the series of recesses () defined in the cavity surface (). Method of molding a container incorporating surface indicia and the container

Methods and systems for simultaneously forming and filling a container from a preform with fluid, adjusting a fill point of the fluid, and removing air and/or foam from within the container. One of the methods includes injecting fluid from a fill source into the preform through a nozzle passage defined between the nozzle and a seal pin of the forming and filling system to simultaneously form the container from the preform and fill the container. After the container is formed and filled, the seal pin is actuated to close the nozzle passage and prevent fluid and air from exiting the container through the nozzle passage, thereby trapping fluid and air within the container under pressure. Air, fluid, and/or foam is extracted out from within the container through a passageway defined within a stretch rod to adjust a fill point of the container.
