Compositions, methods, and systems for using particulates treated with one or more hydrophobizing agents in forming filter cakes during drilling to improve filter-cake removal. A method for drilling a wellbore may include circulating a drilling fluid in the wellbore, wherein the drilling fluid comprises particulates treated with one or more hydrophobizing agents; extending the wellbore while the drilling fluid is circulated in the wellbore; and forming a filter cake in the wellbore, wherein the filter cake comprises a portion of the particulates from the drilling fluid.

Hydrobically treated particulates for improved return permeability

Systems and methods for treating subterranean formations using particulates treated with hydrophobizing agents in aqueous base fluid are provided. One embodiment is a composition comprising: a base fluid, a hectorite clay, a secondary clay comprising at least one clay selected from the group consisting of an attapulgite clay, a sepiolite clay, a palygorskite clay, and any combination thereof, and a plurality of fibers. Another embodiment is a method comprising: introducing a first fluid into a wellbore; introducing a barrier pill into the wellbore, wherein the barrier pill comprises: a base fluid, a hectorite clay, and a plurality of fibers; and introducing a second fluid into the wellbore.
