Methods including introducing a first treatment fluid comprising a first aqueous base fluid and a chelating etching agent into a low-permeability subterranean formation comprising carbonate material having a first fracture network at a first treatment interval therein, wherein the first fracture network comprises a first main fracture and a first microfracture. The method further comprises placing the chelating etching agent in the first fracture network and reacting it with the carbonate material in the first fracture network. In certain embodiments, the reacting removes the carbonate material, thereby creating at least one conductive channel on a face of the first fracture network. The method further comprises introducing a second treatment fluid comprising a second aqueous base fluid and micro-sized proppant particulates into the low-permeability subterranean formation and placing the micro-sized proppant particulates into the first fracture network to form a partial monolayer in the first microfracture.

Various embodiments disclosed relate to methods of acidizing subterranean formations and systems for performing the method. In various embodiments, the present invention provides a method of acidizing a subterranean formation including placing an acid-resisting treatment composition including a surface modification agent in a subterranean formation, such that part of the subterranean formation includes an at least partially acid-resistant coating including the acid-resisting treatment composition or a reaction product thereof. The method also includes placing an acidizing composition in the subterranean formation, wherein the acidizing composition at least one of etches and dissolves a part of the subterranean formation substantially free of the acid-resistant coating.

In various embodiments, the present invention provides a method of treating a subterranean formation. A method of fracturing a subterranean formation and forming a fracture network therein that includes at least one primary fracture and at least one microfracture is provided. A plurality of micro-proppant particulates is mixed with the fracturing fluid and placed in the microfracture, and a plurality of primary proppant particulates are mixed with the fracturing fluid and placed in the primary fracture. The step of mixing the micro-proppant particulates with the fracturing fluid continues for so long as the primary proppant particulates are mixed with the fracturing fluid and the fracturing fluid and primary proppant particulates are pumped into the formation.

Enhancing conductivity of microfractures

Methods including introducing a treatment fluid into a wellbore in a subterranean formation, wherein the subterranean formation includes a coal seam gas reservoir, a freshwater reservoir, and formation laminae interposed therebetween, and the wellbore penetrating each, and wherein the treatment fluid comprises an aqueous base fluid and an aqueous curable resin; penetrating at least a portion of the formation laminae with the aqueous curable resin while maintaining the treatment fluid in the wellbore at a pressure sufficient to prevent the flow of freshwater from the freshwater reservoir into the wellbore; curing the aqueous curable resin, thereby stabilizing the formation laminae; creating permeability pathways in the coal seam gas reservoir itself; removing the treatment fluid from the wellbore; recovering gas from the coal seam gas reservoir.

Methods and systems including introducing a treatment fluid into a subterranean formation, wherein the treatment fluid comprises a base fluid and a fluid loss control package (FLCP). The FLCP comprises rigid non-degradable particulates and pliable degradable particulates. The FLCP forms a fluidic seal in the subterranean formation at a target interval, thereby providing fluid loss control therein.
