A packaging method and apparatus employ web material having cohesive on facing surfaces of two web portions between which an item is packaged. The cohesive adheres to itself by application of pressure alone, without heat, but tends not to adhere to other surfaces. The web portions are sealed together about the item by seal devices that apply pressure without heat to the web portions. The web portions and item can be passed through a resilient nip formed by two rolls, at least one of which has resiliently compliant roll portion(s) for pressing the web portions closely about the item.

Packaging method and apparatus

A packaging apparatus includes a pair of rolls forming a nip through which two web portions are passed with an item to be packaged between the web portions. The rolls include resiliently compliant roll portions that deform to accommodate the thickness of the item, and the roll portions press the web portions to seal them together in peripheral regions surrounding the item and to center the item between the webs in the thickness direction. The apparatus also includes side seal devices that traverse inwardly toward the item to seal the webs together close to the item's opposite side edges to prevent the item from laterally shifting. The web portions may have cohesive disposed on their facing surfaces such that the web portions adhere to each other with pressure but tend not to adhere to the packaged item or other surfaces.

Packaging apparatus and method

A system for heating and dispensing foam-in-bag packaging bags comprises a housing that rotatably supports a roll of a continuous web of interconnected foam-in-bag packaging bags, and at least one heater for heating bags to an elevated temperature prior to the bags being dispensed from the housing. A heated bag is dispensed and is detached from the web, and is then manipulated to mix foam precursor chemicals contained in separate compartments in the bag to begin a foam-forming reaction in the bag.

System and method for production of foam-in-bag cushions

An inflatable packing article including a flexible, air tight bag; and a valve assembly defining a passage through which air is introduced into the bag during inflation, the valve assembly having an inlet end, the inlet end having an outer exposed surface with an adhesive adhered thereto and circumscribing a predefined area through which access to the passage is obtained.

An apparatus, system, and method for dispensing fluid into containers includes a cleaning mechanism that brings the discharge nozzle of a dispenser into the travel path of a film web so that the end-face can make contact with the film web to remove from the end-face at least a portion of any fluid or reaction-products of the fluid that may be in adherence with the end-face. A film for removing such fluid or reaction-products from the end-face of the dispenser is also provided.

A method of inflating a dunnage bag in a box including the steps of inflating the dunnage bag; with one or more sensors, monitoring deflection of at least two surfaces of the box while inflating the dunnage bag; upon detecting through monitoring that deflection of either of at least two surfaces reaches a corresponding preseleted threshold, automatically terminating inflating of the box.

A convective warmer for flexible plastic bags containing foam precursor chemicals includes an outer housing and an inner enclosure supported within the housing, the inner enclosure having foraminous floor and ceiling plates and foraminous dividers which divide the inner enclosure into vertical compartments for containing vertical stacks of bags. An air space exists between the housing and the inner enclosure, and a forced-air heater is arranged to heat air within the air space and circulate the heated air from the air space, through the foraminous floor plate into the compartments, and out the foraminous ceiling plate back into the air space. A loading door provides access to upper portions of the compartments for loading bags into the warmer, and a dispensing door provides access to lower portions of the compartments for removing a bottommost bag from a stack of bags in the warmer.
