The apparatus for retaining a plug within a receptacle may include a receptacle body and a release device. In one embodiment, the receptacle body may include at least one tab, and the at least one tab may include at least one barb. When a plug is inserted into the receptacle body, the plug may cause the at least one tab to extend toward an exterior side of the receptacle body while the at least one tab remains in contact with the plug. The plug may be retained within the receptacle body with the pressure applied by the at least one tab to the plug. In order to release the plug, the release device may come into contact with the at least one tab, cause the at least one tab to extend away from the plug, and allow the plug to be released from the receptacle body.

The present disclosure is an apparatus for distributing power which includes a power configuration device and an outlet power strip. The power configuration device may be coupled to the outlet power strip via a cable, the cable including a connector device. The apparatus for distributing power may provide that the power configuration device may only be changed when necessary and the outlet power strip may only be changed when necessary, creating a modular power system for computer and data storage equipment which may allow for efficient and cost-effective power distribution modifications.

The present disclosure is an apparatus for retaining a plug within a receptacle. The apparatus for retaining a plug within a receptacle may include a receptacle body and a retention device. The retention device may include a face portion and at least one prong, each prong of the at least one prong including a barb. The retention device is configured to retain a plug inserted within the receptacle body by contact with a shroud of the plug from the barb of each prong of the at least one prong of the retention device.

A power and environmental monitoring system includes a power distribution unit, a power monitoring system including an internal sensor for monitoring power consumption characteristics of power supplied to equipment coupled with the power distribution unit, an environmental monitoring system including an internal sensor for monitoring environmental characteristics in a physical environment occupied by the power and environmental monitoring system, and a network connection. The power monitoring system and the environmental monitoring system share a common interface accessible via the network connection. The power distribution unit includes an I/O port for connecting an external sensor, and the environmental monitoring system is configured for receiving environmental characteristics sensed by the external sensor. The common interface comprises a series of Web pages for displaying characteristics sensed by the power monitoring system and the environmental monitoring system. An alarm is provided for alerting an operator that a characteristic has reached an alarm threshold.
