Devices, apparatuses, and methods are disclosed that include a glass or glass ceramic substrate with a bleached region and an unbleached region. Examples include a substrate with a region that transmits IR wavelength light, and a region that is substantially opaque to IR light. A colored glass article may include 50-80 mol % SiO; 7-20 mol % AlO; 1-35 mol % RO, wherein RO comprises at least one of LiO, NaO, and KO; 1×10-10 mol % of a colorant, wherein the colorant comprises at least one of CrO, Au, Ag, CuO, NiO, CoO, TiO, CeO; and 12-24 mol % of AlO+MgO+CaO+ZnO. The colored glass article may have a transmittance color coordinate in the CIELAB color space with an L* value of 55 to 96.5. The colored glass article may have a compressive stress profile with a depth of compression ≥0.15 t a thickness t from 0.4 mm-5 mm, a compressive stress ≥200 MPa, and a central tension ≥60 MPa. The colored glass article may have a dielectric constant from 5.6 to 6.4 over the frequency range from 10 GHz to 60 GHz.

A laminate glass-ceramic article is provided that includes: a core glass layer having a first coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE); and a plurality of clad glass-ceramic layers, each having a CTE that is lower than or equal to the first CTE of the core glass layer. A first of the clad glass-ceramic layers is laminated to a first surface of core glass layer and a second of the clad glass-ceramic layers is laminated to a second surface of the core glass layer. Further, a total thickness of the plurality of clad glass-ceramic layers is from about 0.05 mm to about 0.5 mm. Optically transparent glass ceramic materials comprising a glass phase containing and a crystalline tungsten bronze phase comprising nanoparticles and having the formula MWO, where M includes at least one H, Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Ca, Sr, Ba, Zn, Cu, Ag, Sn, Cd, In, Tl, Pb, Bi, Th, La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, and U, and where 0&#x3c;x&#x3c;1.
