A power loss detector monitors a power supply to a monitored networking device to detect an imminent power loss, where a port of the monitored networking device is connected to a bypass module. A bypass controller in a bypass module in response to detecting the imminent power loss, determines whether to bypass the monitored networking device; and in the event it is determined to bypass the monitored networking device, configures an electromechanical relay in the bypass module to create a new connection associated with the port of the monitored networking device that bypasses the monitored networking device. The configured electromechanical relay maintains the new connection for at least some time after the imminent power loss.

Low cost fail-2-wire circuit

The disclosed technology relates to a process for optimizing data flow within a computer network. The technology utilizes shared memory and machine learning logic to improve the efficiency of how computing resources are used during a transmission of data packets in the computer network. The shared memory is implemented during the transmission of data packets between the data plane and the service plane so that the copying of data packets after the data packets have been received and processed by an application is not necessary. The machine learning logic is implemented during the processing of the data packets in order to adjust a frequency or extent that the data packets (and corresponding source of the data packets) need to be evaluated to ensure that malicious content is not being transmitted across the computer network.

Service plane optimizations with learning-enabled flow identification

Power sourcing equipment ('PSE') can temporarily suspend or indefinitely disable powered devices (“PDs”) exhibiting faults for more efficient resource utilization and preservation of the PSE hardware. The PSE maintains a first counter for each connected PD that indicates a count of fault events detected for the PD. Upon detecting a count of fault events for a PD within a designated time period that exceeds a first threshold, the PSE suspends the PD and increments a second counter maintained for the PD that indicates how many times the PD has been suspended. The PSE suspends processing of/responding to communications received from the suspended PD for the duration of the suspension. Subsequent fault detection and suspension for the PD can continue until the suspension count of the PD exceeds a second threshold, which triggers disabling of the faulty PD by discontinuing processing of/responding to communications received from the PD indefinitely.

Techniques for interface bandwidth management. A wired interface bandwidth is configured for a wired interface of a router. A cellular interface bandwidth is configured for a cellular interface of cellular interfaces of the router. The cellular interface bandwidth includes an uplink bandwidth. One or more instantaneous uplink throughput values for the cellular interface are determined based on one or more uplink throughput per resource block values for the cellular interface. A predicted average uplink throughput for the cellular interface is determined based on the one or more instantaneous uplink throughput values. The uplink bandwidth is dynamically adjusted based on the predicted average uplink throughput determined for the cellular interface of the router.

System and method for dynamic bandwidth adjustments for cellular interfaces in a network environment

A method is provided in one example embodiment and may include determining a predicted average throughput for each of one or more cellular interfaces and adjusting bandwidth for each of the one or more of the cellular interfaces based, at least in part, on the predicted average throughput determined for each of the one or more cellular interfaces. Another method can be provided, which may include determining a variance in path metrics for multiple cellular interfaces and updating a routing table for the cellular interfaces using the determined variance if there is a difference between the determined variance and a previous variance determined for the cellular interfaces. Another method can be provided, which may include monitoring watermark thresholds for a MAC buffer; generating an interrupt when a particular watermark threshold for the MAC buffer is reached; and adjusting enqueueing of uplink packets into the MAC buffer based on the interrupt.

In one embodiment, a device in a network determines performance characteristics of a plurality of physical interfaces of the device. The device receives an application descriptive language-based description of performance requirements of a virtualized application for execution by the device. The device selects a particular one of the plurality of physical interfaces for use by the virtualized application during execution, based on the performance requirements of the virtualized application and on the performance characteristics of the plurality of physical interfaces. The device causes the virtualized application to use the selected physical interface during execution by the device.

Application descriptive language for network gateways

In one embodiment, a device, having a first and a second network interface, detects a switchover by the first network interface from using a preferred wireless access standard to access a carrier network to using a second wireless access standard to access the carrier network. The device identifies when the preferred wireless access standard is again available from the carrier network using the second network interface and causes the first network interface to switch to using the preferred wireless access standard, based on identification by the second network interface that the preferred wireless access standard is again available from the carrier network.

Carrier network access using multiple network interfaces

In one embodiment, a cellular recovery device includes an Ethernet physical transceiver to send and receive Ethernet frames, to and from, a remote host, respectively, via an Ethernet link, a cellular modem to send and receive cellular data packets, to and from a network, respectively, via a cellular communication system, and a central processing unit to receive a first control message originating from the remote host for the cellular recovery device to process the transfer of data between the Ethernet physical transceiver and the cellular modem, and process the transfer of data between the Ethernet physical transceiver and the cellular modem so that data may be transferred between a router/switch and the network via the cellular communication system. Related apparatus and methods are also described.

External cellular recovery device

A router is provided. The router includes a primary interface, a backup interface, a processor, and a memory. The primary interface and backup interface may be used to communicate with a network switch. The router may be configured to determine whether the primary interface is stable. The primary interface is stable when the primary interface may be used to exchange information with a network switch over a primary network segment. The router may be configured to activate the primary interface when the primary interface is determined to be stable. The router may also be configured to activate the backup interface when the primary interface is determined to be not stable. The backup interface may be activated for the exchange of information with the network switch.
