Method and system for mounting a detector

An improved siphoning device having an elongated hollow body member having a first open tip end with a fluid flow opening and a second open end. A two-way liquid valve is positioned within the first open tip end, and air pump member is removably attached to the second end of the body member. The seal member is movably positioned within the first open tip end. An air vent exhausts hot gases and is an air outlet for pumping air out of the body and creating suction within body. The air vent is preferably positioned proximate the elongated body second open end and has a cross-sectional area substantially less than the fluid flow opening cross-sectional area. The air vent preferably has a diameter in the range from at least one thirty second of an inch to three thirty seconds of and inch. Most preferably the diameter is greater than one thirty second is of an inch and less than three thirty seconds of and inch. Most preferably the diameter is about two thirty seconds of an inch. A vent collar is provided for directing any fluid flow out of the air vent, down and away from the user, to protect the user from the hot gases that can be exhausted through the air vent and any inadvertent exiting of liquid.

A method for regulating a signal level in a power supply for a microchannel plate in a radiation detector is provided. The method includes receiving an input signal at a signal multiplier. The signal multiplier has an output terminal and a return terminal. An output signal is produced at the output terminal. The output signal is provided to the microchannel plate. A regulation signal is provided from the output terminal to the return terminal. A signal level of the output signal is regulated with the regulation signal.

Method and system for regulating a high voltage level in a power supply for a radiation detector

Apparatus for controlling a gated power supply of an image intensifier having a micro-channel plate includes a current-to-voltage converter coupled to the micro-channel plate operable to convert a strobing current on the micro-channel plate to a strobing voltage signal, a AC-to-DC converter coupled to the current-to-voltage converter operable to convert the flickering voltage signal to a voltage level signal, and a control circuit coupled to the AC-to-DC converter operable to generate a varying frequency gating control signal in response to the frequency of the strobing current. The gating frequency is gradually changed until the flickering is substantially eliminated.

Apparatus and method of controlling a gated power supply in an image intensifier with a micro-channel plate

A container for dispensing a predetermined amount of liquid through a dispensing tube is disclosed. A valve is dimensioned to contain and dispense a predetermined about of liquid and dispense the liquid through a dispensing tube in contact with the valve. The liquid is in fluid contact with the inlet port when the base is in a first position and out of fluid contact with the inlet port when the base is in a second position. Thus, the valve fills with liquid when the container is in a substantially horizontal position while angling the container removes the liquid from contact with the valve and stops the fluid flow. Preferably the container has a sealable, watertight lid that receives the dispensing tube and incorporates vent holes to enable airflow into the container. The fluid inlet port can be placed in the side or top of the valve. The valve can alternatively be a tube with fluid and tube inlets in fluid communication. An air vent can be incorporated within the dispensing tube to prevent using the dispensing tube as a straw, it is preferable to include a drinking shield.

An integrated night vision device and laser range finder (10) provides night-time imaging of a scene by use of an image intensifier tube (14), as well as providing laser range finding operations. In a laser range finder mode of operation the device (10) projects a pulse of laser light into a scene being viewed, and a power supply and laser range finder circuit (50) of the device (10) temporarily utilizes the image intensifier tube (14) as a sensor to detect reflected laser light. During laser range finding, imaging is cut off for a very short time interval, and the image intensifier tube provides an electrical output signal in response to receipt of reflected laser light. A detection circuit (86, 86') associated with the image intensifier tube (10) receives the electrical output signal from the image intensifier tube (14), and includes a magnetic circuit. Oscillation in the magnetic circuit is effected by the electrical output signal of the image intensifier tube (14). A frequency comparator circuit, or phase detector circuit provides an electrical timer-stop output signal in response to a change in a frequency or phase relationship, respectively, of oscillations in the magnetic circuit.

Night vision device with improved laser range finder

A multi-function day/night observation, ranging, and sighting device with active acquisition of optical targets includes a single objective lens and a single eyepiece lens and provides an image of a scene. The single objective lens leads to a visible-light first optical path and to an invisible-light second optical path. The invisible-light second optical path includes an image intensifier tube providing a visible image. The first and second optical paths converge with visible images provided by each pathway being overlaid at a reticule plane. A single light path leads from the reticule plane to the eyepiece lens. A laser provides pulses of laser light projected into the scene via the single objective lens, and the image intensifier tube is used as a detector for a portion of the laser light pulses reflected from an object in the scene in order to provide both a laser range finding function and an active optical target acquisition mode. The device includes a light-emitting display visible through the eyepiece lens providing ranging information superimposed over the image of the scene as seen by a user of the device. Methods of the device's operation are also disclosed.
