One embodiment provides an acoustic transducer including a diaphragm connected to an upper portion. A first voice coil is connected to a first side of the diaphragm. A second voice coil is connected to a second side of the diaphragm. A first magnetic motor assembly is connected to a first side of a lower portion. A second magnetic motor assembly is connected to a second side of the lower portion. An electronics system is connected to the lower portion and disposed behind the diaphragm and between the first magnetic motor assembly and the second motor assembly. The first voice coil is at least partially disposed within a gap of the first magnetic motor assembly, and the second voice coil is at least partially disposed within a gap of the second magnetic motor assembly.

Cantilevered retention systems for architectural systems are provided herein. As one example, a cantilevered retention system may include a support structure, a cantilever structure comprising a threaded channel and an L-shaped hook structure, and one or more retention sources configured to bias the cantilever structure to a first position, the cantilever structure being moveable between the first position and a second position via a fastener that traverses the support structure and at least partially traverses the cantilever structure and the one or more retention sources.

Mounting system

A loudspeaker system is provided including an enclosure and a transducer mounted within the enclosure. A port is provided in the enclosure, the port having an inlet located at an external surface of the enclosure and an outlet located in an interior of the enclosure which allow bi-directional air flow in and out of the enclosure. At least one duct is provided in the port to extract air flow from the port and redirect the air flow within the enclosure. In one embodiment, the at least one duct may comprise a NACA duct.

An acoustic system that includes an acoustic assembly and a sound system. The acoustic assembly at least includes a tube removably attached to a compression driver. Additionally, the acoustic assembly includes either a waveguide or a deflector. Either the waveguide or the deflector is also removably attached to the tube. The sound system communicates with the acoustic assembly and includes a filter. The filter includes a filter length that is based on an impulse response of the acoustic assembly. As part of the communication, the sound system sends an audio signal, which has been filtered by the filter, to the acoustic assembly. In response to the audio signal, the compression driver generates a sound wave that travels through the acoustic assembly. While traveling, the acoustic assembly transitions the sound wave from generally traveling in a first direction to a second direction.

A sealed speaker system includes an enclosure and a transducer diaphragm mounted within the enclosure, where an increase in air pressure within the enclosure results in an outward movement of the diaphragm toward an exterior of the enclosure, and a decrease in air pressure within the enclosure results in an inward movement of the diaphragm toward an interior of the enclosure. A pressure vent is provided in the enclosure and allows a gradual transfer of air between the enclosure interior and the enclosure exterior to substantially maintain a pressure equilibrium between the enclosure interior and the enclosure exterior.

In some embodiments, a mounting bracket includes a first plate portion; a second plate portion, the second plate portion perpendicular to the first plate portion; and a slot extending continuously from the first plate portion to the second plate portion.

A loudspeaker includes a motor assembly having a back plate and a pole piece centrally disposed with respect to the back plate. The pole piece has a first end and a second end, where the pole piece has a center vent allowing bi-directional air flow in and out of the motor assembly. The motor assembly further includes a top plate concentrically disposed with respect to the pole piece, and a magnet disposed between the back plate and the top plate, wherein a magnetic air gap is defined between the pole piece and the top plate. The loudspeaker further includes a voice coil disposed in the air gap. The pole piece includes at least one NACA duct formed therein, the at least one NACA duct having an inlet located at an internal surface of the pole piece in fluid communication with the center vent and an outlet located at an exterior surface of the pole piece in fluid communication with the magnetic air gap in order to extract air flow from the center vent and redirect the air flow toward the voice coil.

A dual-coil, dual magnetic gap electromagnetic transducer is provided where each voice coil is wired to include separate leads so that each individual voice coil may be driven by a separate amplifier or by a separate bridged amplifier. Signal processing may further be utilized to increase the output of the loudspeaker, to achieve extreme excursion without extreme distortion and to provide for alternative voice coil designs to address common problems with dual-coil, dual magnetic gap transducers, including, but not limited to, heat generation.

An electromagnetic drive motor assembly (EDMA) has at least one bridge that extends along a radial direction to conduct heat away from the magnetic gap and towards the outer surface of the EDMA. The EDMA includes a conductive ring between a first plate and a second plate. The conductive ring has an inner ring, an outer ring, and at least one bridge between the inner and outer rings. The inner ring is adapted to receive a voice coil such that the heat generated by the voice coil conducts through the inner ring, the bridge, and then to the outer ring. As such, a heat conducting path is provided within the EDMA to remove the heat away from the voice coil. This allows the EDMA to operate more efficiently. The EDMA may also include a flux return having a pole piece that protrudes from the first plate. The inner ring of the conducting ring may receive the pole piece to form an intermediate gap between the pole piece and the inner ring. The pole piece may protrude through the inner ring and insert into an opening within the second plate. A magnetic gap may be formed between the protruding portion of the pole piece and the second plate.

Electromagnetic motor system capable of removing heat away from its magnetic gap

The present invention provides an electromagnetic drive motor assembly (EDMA) that has an inner flux return assembly formed from an upper pole piece and a lower pole piece oppositely disposed relative to each other along the center of the EDMA. An annularly positioned conductive ring (or flux stabilization ring) encircles the inner flux return assembly, concentrically in contact with the outside of the inner flux return assembly. Along the exterior side of the flux return pieces, is a magnet that is between a top plate and a bottom plate. Each plate contacts with the magnet to form a magnetically conductive system. A magnetic gap is formed in between the inner flux return assembly and the top and bottom plates. Disposed within the magnetic gap is a dual coil wound around a cylinder. The dual coil includes a first coil portion and a second coil portion. To minimize the modulation, the top and bottom plates may be saturated and plate tips may be provided near the magnetic gap. And to dissipate heat away from the magnetic gap, a thermal radiating conductive ring may be provided as well.

A compact speaker is enabled to mount into panels made with either of two different sized standard mounting cutout patterns, e.g. Japanese JIS or the larger European DIN, providing the small JIS overall basket diameter along with an unusually large effective cone &ldquo;air piston&rdquo; diameter with full excursion for enhanced low frequency response. For mounting to a JIS-configured panel, an annular adaptor ring is configured with an array of four mounting screw clearance holes in a JIS pattern by which the ring is attached to the panel, and four threaded holes on a larger circle by which the basket is then attached to the ring by relatively small sized machine screws. For mounting to a DIN-configured panel, the adaptor ring is not used: the plastic basket is configured with four extending ears providing clearance mounting holes at DIN mounting locations for self-tapping screws by which the speaker is mounted to the DIN-type panel. The ears are made such that for JIS mounting, where they are not used, they can be snapped off and removed to avoid interference with close surroundings.
