This invention relates to blends of linear low density polyethylene copolymers with other linear low density polyethylenes or very low density, low density, medium density, high density, and differentiated polyethylenes. The invention also includes articles produced from the linear low density polyethylene and polyethylene blends described.

Linear low density polymer blends and articles made therefrom

Processes are disclosed for oxygen-tailoring polyethylene blow molding resin. Polyethylene resin is conveyed through a feed zone, a melt-mixing zone and a melt zone, wherein the temperature of the polyethylene resin is from about 216&#xb0; C. to about 260&#xb0; C. in the melt zone. The resin is contacted with oxygen in an amount of at least about 20 parts by weight oxygen per million parts by weight resin. The oxygen-treated resin can be used to make polyethylene blow molded articles having improved melt strength, processability, and die swell.

Oxygen tailoring of polyethylene blow molding resins

Blends of very low density polyethylene produced using metallocene catalysts (mVLDPE) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) are disclosed. The polymer blends include a metallocene-catalyzed VLDPE polymer having a density of less than 0.916 g/cm, the VLDPE polymer preferably being linear and without long chain branching, and a HDPE polymer having a density of greater than 0.940 g/cm. The polymer blends are particularly suitable in blown and cast film applications.

Very low density polyethylene and high density polyethylene blends

Processes are disclosed for oxygen-tailoring polyethylene resin. Polyethylene resin is conveyed through a feed zone, a melt-mixing zone and a melt zone. The resin is contacted with oxygen in an amount of at least 40 parts by weight Oper million parts by weight resin, and contacted with primary antioxidant downstream of the point or points of oxygen contact. The oxygen-treated resin can be used to make polyethylene film having improved gauge uniformity.

Oxygen tailoring of polyethylene film resins

A very low density polyethylene having a density of 0.890 to 0.915 and a Dart Drop value of at least about 450 g/mil or above is disclosed. Gas phase polymerization methods are also disclosed for making very low density linear polyolefins utilizing a metallocene catalyst, and the resulting polyolefin products. In a specific embodiment, a gas phase polymerization process is disclosed relating to the formation of a linear polyethylene having a very low density, e.g., ranging from 0.890 to 0.915, but with improved toughness.
