A sheet feeding apparatus for feeding vertically disposed sheet material from a horizontally extending stack comprising a platform adapted to support a stack of sheet material, a vertically extending frame disposed at one end of the platform, and first and second rollers vertically supported in spaced relation by the frame. Endless webs extend around and are driven by the first and second rollers, wherein the webs include a plurality of perforations therein and have one run facing the platform. The one run has a portion which provides an effective contact surface to engage the first article in the stack of sheet material to transport the article from the stack of sheet material as the endless webs are driven. A carriage adjustably located between the first and second rollers supports third and fourth rollers, and the endless webs pass between the third and fourth rollers to continue movement in a different plane. Adjustment of the carriage establishes the effective contact surface of the webs to prevent corners of the sheet material from becoming caught by the perforations in the web. A vacuum force is applied to the face of the webs through the perforations and to enhance adhesion of the first article in the stack to the webs. Once removed from the stack, the sheet material is engaged by a nip roller and advanced to a work station.

Variable width envelope feeder

A universal circuit module mounting structure is characterized by mounting hardware for a circuit module which enables the same to be mounted either between a pair of spaced channels or within circuit card guides. For mounting between the channels, L-shaped brackets are removably fastened to upper and lower ends of the module, upstanding legs of the brackets are apertured, the apertures are aligned with passages through the channels and fasteners extended through the apertures and passages secure the module to and between the channels. To mount the module within circuit card guides, generally U-shaped brackets are removably fastened to the module upper and lower ends, and outwardly extending legs of the brackets are slid within the card guides to mount the module therewithin.

Universal circuit module mounting structure

A matrix printing apparatus of the type having a path for sequentially transporting a series of documents to be printed between a plurality of dot matrix ballistic print heads and back-up platen rollers opposite each print head, the dot matrix ballistic print heads adapted, when actuated, to simultaneously impact an ink source and one side of each document as each document passes the print heads to apply printed material to each document in a pre-programmed array. The improvement of the present invention comprises moving the back-up platen rollers from a first position adjacent the print head when the print head is actuated, to a second position at a distance from the print head when the print head is not actuated. The matrix printing apparatus also includes an ink source comprising an endless inked ribbon which continually moves between the dot matrix ballistic print heads and the document path, and includes an ink guard disposed between the inked ribbon and the document path, the ink guard having relatively small apertures therein adjacent each print head wherein only the portion of the ribbon adjacent each print head extends through each corresponding aperture and contacts each document during application of printed material to each document.

A new and improved vacuum document feeder provides a vacuum cup support mechanism which follows a somewhat crescent-shaped coupler curve that eliminated the vacuum cup wear-producing disadvantages of the prior art and provides for increased feeding rates. A four-bar system moves a table over the somewhat crescent-shaped coupler curve, while at all times holding an edge of the table parallel to the documents. At least one vacuum cup is pivotally mounted on the table, to sweep over an angle which accommodates leaning documents. Cams on a drive pulley associated with the transport system coordinates the table movement with both the pivoting and vacuumizing of the cups.
