A composite sleeve seal for sealing a conduit connection including a body portion having collar sections spaced apart from one another to define gaps therebetween, and being interconnected to one another by link segments spanning the gaps. A seal portion interposes the collar sections in the gaps and surrounds the link segments to positively interlock the seal portion with the body portion to form the composite sleeve seal as one integral component.

Composite sleeve for sealing a tubular coupling

A hose coupling using at least one reinforcing ring to reinforce a hose coupling during a crimping process, the hose coupling having an inner sleeve, an outer sleeve coaxial with the inner sleeve, and a hose coaxially interposed therebetween. During the crimping process a crimping force is applied directly to the outer sleeve to form at least one depression that results in an area of peak crimp force on the inner sleeve, the depression helping to seal and lock the hose between the inner and outer sleeves. The reinforcing ring is positioned within the inner sleeve and concentric with the area of peak crimp force on the inner sleeve. Consequently, the reinforcing ring prevents the inner sleeve from deforming under the crimping force, thereby ensuring the integrity and long-term durability of the hose coupling. The reinforcing ring preferably has an inside diameter equal to or greater than an inside diameter of the inner sleeve and is disposed within at least one groove located within the inner sleeve to permit unrestricted fluid flow through the hose coupling.

Reinforcement for a hose coupling

A tubular connection for centering a tube within a female connecting block that has a throughbore with a chamfer, wherein a transition surface is defined between the chamfer and the throughbore. The tube has an upset bead, a tapered portion narrowing from the upset bead, and an end-form extending from the tapered portion, the end-form having an annular groove with an O-ring therein. The connection further includes a device for securing the tube within the female connecting block whereby the upset bead of the tube is caused to abut the female connecting block. The tube locates inside the female connecting block such that the end-form seals via the O-ring inside the throughbore of the female connecting block and the tapered portion of the tube sealingly engages against the transition surface of the female connecting block to keep the tube centered within the female connecting block and to form a secondary fluid-tight seal.

Self-centering tubular connection

A conduit mounting device for entrapping a conduit that includes a body having a U-shaped channel formed longitudinally through the body. The U-shaped channel receives the conduit therethrough and defines a leg on either side of the U-shaped channel. A retainer insert is mounted transversely in the U-shaped channel to sandwich the conduit between the retainer insert and the body in the U-shaped channel. The legs of the body are folded behind the retainer insert in the U-shaped channel to transversely entrap the retainer insert and conduit in the U-shaped channel. A device for further longitudinally retaining the retainer insert within the U-shaped channel, in addition to a device for rotatably locking the conduit within the U-shaped channel, may also be provided.

Serviceable mounting device for conduit

An accumulator includes a housing having an open top end, an open bottom end, an outer wall, and an inner wall disposed within the outer wall to define an interior. The inner and outer walls are integrally interconnected by longitudinal partitions that define longitudinal channels with a downflow channel and an upflow channel positioned among the longitudinal channels. A top cover mounts to, and closes, the open top end of the housing, and has an inlet passage and an outlet passage therethrough. A refrigerant separator is positioned beneath the top cover for directing refrigerant from the inlet passage of the top cover to the interior of the housing, for venting gaseous refrigerant to the downflow passage of the housing while preventing ingress of liquid refrigerant therein, and for communicating gaseous refrigerant from the upflow passage of the housing to the outlet passage of the top cover. A cross-passage conveys gaseous refrigerant from the downflow passage of the housing to the upflow passage of the housing and includes a pickup tube for lubricating the refrigerant flowing through the cross-passage. Liquid refrigerant entering the accumulator collects in the interior of the housing and gaseous refrigerant is conveyed through an aperture in the refrigerant separator down the downflow passage, across the accumulator through the cross-passage, up the upflow passage, over the refrigerant separator, and out the outlet passage of the top cover.

Refrigeration accumulator having a matrix wall structure

A dome-shaped baffle for an accumulator molded from desiccant material, which baffle separates and dries liquid and vapor components of an incoming flow of refrigerant while preventing the liquid refrigerant from entering an outlet tube. The dome-shaped baffle forces all of the refrigerant to contact the desiccant and has a barrier layer attached underneath that prevents liquid refrigerant from flowing through the baffle and directly into an inlet end of the outlet tube.

Accumulator baffle molded from desiccant

A pressure vessel housing that can be brazed and leak tested before adding desiccant material, eliminating the risk of damaging desiccant bags during assembly. The desiccant is added to the housing of the pressure vessel through an existing inlet opening in the top of the accumulator housing, thereby eliminating the potential for damage to the desiccant and the desiccant container while maintaining the integrity of the housing because no additional openings in the housing are required to access the desiccant material. A screen permanently mounted inside the pressure vessel supports the loose desiccant material and another screen removably attached to the inlet opening provides access to the loose desiccant material housed within the pressure vessel. A method of making the pressure vessel allows the accumulator assembly to be leak tested before the desiccant is added, reducing scrap and allowing repair of accumulator assemblies.

Packaging of replaceable desiccant in an accumulator or receiver dryer

An improved hose fitting assembly is disclosed which is designed for use in automotive air conditioning systems and is particularly well suited for use in such systems employing recently developed composite type hose which incorporates an inner liner of a thermoplastic material such as nylon or the like. The assembly comprises a resilient sealing member provided on the outer periphery of the fitting which is designed to sealingly engage the hose member and fitting to provide a positive seal therebetween so as to prevent loss of pressurized fluid such as refrigerant gas.

Flexible fluid conduit assembly

A hose coupling assembly for use particularly in an automotive air conditioning system, or other system requiring the effective sealing of a refrigerant over extended periods of time, comprising a hose having an inner liner of thermoplastic material and being maintained in compression by a swaged sleeve over a fitting having a primary sealing element in the form of a resilient O-ring and a plurality of locking grooves into which the thermoplastic liner is to be cold-formed to preclude the possibility of the thermoplastic liner flowing during operation at elevated operating temperatures and to provide a secondary seal at all operating temperatures to which the coupling is exposed. The components, particularly the O-ring and fitting elements, being seized relative to one another to minimize flow of the inner liner at elevated operating temperatures and to maintain the O-ring as a live seal under all operating conditions.
