A geopolymer cement and a method of producing the same are provided. A geopolymer cement binder may be provided including a geopolymer precursor and magnesium oxide as an alkali activator. The geopolymer cement binder may be mixed with water using high shear mixing.

Magnesium phosphate cement binder systems and method for providing magnesium phosphate cements are described. In an embodiment, a magnesium phosphate cement binder system may include magnesium oxide that has been calcined at a temperature of between about 900&#xb0; F. to about 1800&#xb0; F. The magnesium phosphate cement binder system may also include a phosphate material. Other formulations, compositions, and methods are also described.

Magnesium phosphate cement

Portland Cement-based concretes and mortars exhibit significant reduction in shrinkage cracking when combined with Magnesium Oxide (MgO), Shrinkage Reduction Admixtures (SRA) and Super Absorbent Polymers (SAP). However, MgO is a solid that reacts with water, SRA is a liquid, and SAP if not added properly could pull water out of the system and thus increase shrinkage. Unique admixture blends used as supplementary cementing materials that do not significantly affect concrete or cement strength properties of Portland cement itself address such issues. Proper ratios of MgO, SRA and/or SAP perform better against crack reduction when compared to commonly used Expansive Cements (EC).

Admixtures for shrink crack reduction of portland cement-based mortars and concretes

Strong acid cation resins used alone or in combination with zeolite-based ion exchange resins are encapsulated in various water permeable polymer fabric bags of various geometries and thicknesses to reduce the calcium hardness levels during swimming pool and spa water fills. The resin bags are strategically placed in the pool or spa to allow water under pressure to flow through the ion exchange media to exchange calcium or magnesium ions with sodium or other harmless cations.
