A coating composition comprising an advanced epoxy resin polymeric composition having the following chemical structure:(formula) I where n is a number from 1 to about 3000; each m independently has a value of 0 or 1; each R0 is independently &#x2014;H or &#x2014;CH; each Ris independently &#x2014;H or a Cto Calkylene radical (saturated divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon radical); R'-R&#x2032;are independently hydrogen, an alkyl, cycloalkyl, an aryl or an aralkyl group or other substituent, for example, a nitro, an isocyanate, or an alkyloxy group; additionally, any two of R&#x2032;-R&#x2032;may form fused ring independently; and X is cycloalkylene group, including substituted cycloalkylene group, where the substituent groups include an alkyl, cycloalkyl, an aryl or an aralkyl group or other substituent group, for example, a halide, a cyano, a nitro, a blocked isocyanate, or an alkyloxy group; the combination of cycloalkylene and alkylene groups and the combination of alkylene and cycloalkylene group with a bridging moiety in between.

The reduced chain unsaturated acid or ester may be (trans)esterified to form a polyester polyolefin, which may be epoxidized to form a polyester polyepoxide. The reduced chain unsaturated acid or ester may be hydroformylated with reduction to produce an &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-hydroxy acid or &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-hydroxy ester, which may be (trans)esterified with a polyol to form an &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-polyester polyol. Alternatively, the reduced chain unsaturated acid or ester may be hydroformylated with reductive amination to produce an &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-amino acid or &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-amino ester, which may be (trans)esterified to form an &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-polyester polyamine.

The present invention provides thermoplastic hydroxy-functional polyesters. Hydroxy-functional polyesters

The present invention provides network polymers obtained by curing compositions that comprise an ester with at least two terminal epoxy groups. Preferred esters include those represented by the formula (1), wherein each Rindependently represents a substituted or unsubstituted homoaliphatic or heteroaliphatic group; A represents a substituted or unsubstituted homoalkylene, hetemalkylene, arylene, or heteroarylene segment; and n represents an integer equal to or greater than 2.

Network polymers comprising epoxy-terminated esters

A method of making a biodegradable polymer composition including the steps of providing a first component being either one of a thermoplastic poly(hydroxy ester ether) or a synthetic, hydroxy-functional polymer and providing a second component being a natural polymer. The method includes the steps of mixing the first component and second component together to form a mixture, compounding the mixture, and pelletizing the compounded mixture to form pellets of a biodegradable polymer composition.
