A seat cushion with a carrying handle has a multi-cellular foam interior structure for holding and releasing air encased within an air impermiable covering and at least one valve member secured to the covering and having a conduit extending through the covering into the foam. The handle may span a front indented portion in which the valve is located so as to span the valve. The cushion may have a second valve permitting air to enter into but not exit from the foam so as to re-inflate the cushion gradually. The first valve permits air to exit the foam when it is open while a compressible force is applied to the foam. Thus, when a person sits on the cushion and opens the valve, air within the cellular structure of the foam is expelled in accordance with the force applied and the foam is shaped to that of the user's compression applying members. The second valve permits re-inflation of the cushion gradually if the user fails to open or actuate the first valve when removed from the cushion for an extended time. Additionally, the cushion may include a gel containing sealed packet positioned within the covering for those instances where the cushion is used on extremely hard surfaces.

Selectively deformable cushion

A motorcycle seat has a shape forming base on which a selectively deformable cushion is positioned and covered by an exterior covering, the cushion having a foam material encased within an airtight bladder. A valve member located externally of the covering has a conduit which extends through the bladder in sealed fashion and terminates within the foam material. The valve may be selectively opened, and when open while a compression force is applied on the foam, air is expelled from the foam, and if the valve is then closed the foam is formed into the shape of the force applicator. With the valve closed, movement upon the cushion redistributes the air within the foam accordingly. When the compression force is relieved and the valve is opened, the cushion takes on its original shape. A slow release bleed-back valve communicates the interior of the foam with ambient environment to permit air to gradually flow back into the foam in the event the operator fails to open the first mentioned valve after disembarking from the seat.

Selectively deformable seat

A motorcycle seat has a shape forming base on which a selectively deformable cushion is positioned and covered by an exterior covering, the cushion having a foam material encased within an airtight bladder. A valve member located externally of the covering has a conduit which extends through the bladder in sealed fashion and terminates within the foam material. The valve may be selectively opened, and when open while a compressible force is applied on the foam, air is expelled from the foam, and if the valve is then closed the foam is formed into the shape of the force applicator. With the valve closed, movement upon the cushion redistributes the air within the foam accordingly. When the compression force is relieved and the valve is opened, the cushion takes on its original shape. A motorcycle rider sitting on the seat applies the compression force. The construction may be used for seats of any type since it resists the soft tissue of the buttocks from spreading aside and reduces capillary closure pressure by redistributing the pressure.

Weight lifting belt

A system for restraining the lower limbs of a prisoner being conveyed in a vehicle, such as a police car, to preclude injury to persons and to property by violent kicking action of the prisoner. The system utilizes a laminated strap having synthetic hook and loop fastening elements formed on one ply of the laminate and a reinforced vinyl backing formed on the other ply. One end of the strap is fastened to a grommet through which the other end of the strap may be drawn and folded over so that hook elements and loop elements may be engaged to adhere while the vinyl portion of the strap is tightly engaged about the lower limbs of the prisoner. A belt having a catch in the form of a buckle at one end of the belt is attached to the strap at the other end. The catch is tossed out the door of the vehicle and is lodged against a portion of the door and the adjacent door frame. The catch has a magnet bonded to a flat surface thereof so that it can adhere to the vehicle and not fall away.

Prisoner leg restraint

A system for restraining the lower limbs of a prisoner being conveyed in a vehicle, such as a police car, to preclude injury to persons and to property by violent kicking action of the prisoner. The system utilizes a laminated strap having synthetic hook and loop fastening elements formed on one ply of the laminate and a reinforced vinyl backing formed on the other ply. One end of the strap is fastened to a grommet through which the other end of the strap may be drawn and folded over so that hook elements and loop elements may be engaged to adhere while the vinyl portion of the strap is tightly engaged about the lower limbs of the prisoner. A belt having a hook including a biased latch at one end of the belt is attached to the strap at the other end, and the hook can be secured to an anchor on the floor of the vehicle. The attachment of the belt to the strap may be either by a fixed securement or by an adjustable connection.

A weight lifting belt produced from two strips of leather, one strip being substantially elongated relative to the other and having an enlarged width over a portion thereof intermediate first and second narrow end portions, the first end portion being substantially longer than the second end portion. The other strip comprises a short section having surfaces folded back on itself to form a fold and a pair of ends. The ends being secured to the shorter end portion of the elongated strip and a buckle being entrapped between the surfaces of the fold. The first end portion of the long strip has holes for receiving the tongue or tongues of the buckle. The method for producing the belt includes cutting a blank of the longer strip in a staggered relationship in a hide relative to adjacent blanks so that each wide portion of one blank of the longer strip is disposed adjacent a narrow portion of the blank forming the adjacent strips. The second strips are also cut from the hide, folded about respective buckles and secured to the short end of the first strip.

A laminated fastening strap has synthetic hook and loop fastening elements formed on one sheet of the laminate and has a vinyl backing formed on the other sheet. The sheets are laminated together by bonding utilizing dielectric bonding apparatus. The bonds between the sheets are along the borders of the strap and along areas extending transverse to the longitudinally extending borders and angularly extending bond areas. The angularly extending bonds permits cutting along a desired diagonal so as to shorten the strap as required thereby permitting the use of straps of a conventional size which may be cut to the required necessary size only when needed.
