A fluid containment system includes a container, a sensor, and a splash shield. The container has a bottom and defines an interior configured for holding a volume of fluid. The volume of fluid is variable between a low volume range and a filled range. The sensor is operatively disposed in the interior of the container in spaced relationship to the bottom. The sensor is configured to be at least partially submerged in the fluid only when the volume is in the filled volume range. The splash shield is operatively disposed within the interior of the container at a barrier level defined between the sensor and the bottom. As such, the splash shield is disposed between the sensor and a surface level of the fluid when a level of the fluid is less than the barrier level to provide a barrier to prevent fluid from splashing onto the sensor.

A monitoring system is configured for monitoring a property of a fluid. The monitoring system includes a vessel and a monitoring capsule. The vessel is configured for holding a volume of the fluid therein. The monitoring capsule is configured for disposition within the vessel. The monitoring capsule includes a housing, a hydrometer, and a sensor. The hydrometer is movably disposed within the housing. The hydrometer is configured to measure the property of the fluid. The sensor is operatively attached to the housing and configured to sense the measured property of the fluid.

A blow molded (HIC) formation with energy buffers provides absorption of vehicle occupant cranial impacts. A generally plastic, forced air, expanded formation defines a cavity, the formation walls being of varied geometric shapes having calculated wall thicknesses, each shape having an energy absorbing and resiliency characteristic. The formation of geometric shapes is positioned depending upon the vehicle stiffness characteristics and the degree of impact absorption required. Geometric shapes employed may consist of sinusoidal waveforms, a gabled design, or either of the preceding with an internal strengthening rib employed to alter formation impact absorbing characteristics. The formation contains an orifice to ensure that vehicle occupant energy is efficiently absorbed during the concurrent events of formation compaction and air expulsion through the orifice. The blow molded formation may be glued or otherwise suitably fastened to an automobile headliner, door panel, pillar, or other location.
