A connector system includes a plug assembly that has a front connector mounted to a circuit board. The connecter has two wafers that each support a row of terminals and uses shims and pegs to precisely control the spatial relationship of the two wafers to the circuit board. The wafers need not be directly contacting the circuit board and the terminals can have tails that can be positioned slightly above the circuit board and connector to pads on the circuit board via solder connections. The connector system is optimized so as to enable support of 25 Gbps data rates.

Compact high speed connector

A connector system includes a cage with an intermediate section. The cage support a connector and the resulting connector system includes an upper port and a lower port. A heat sink is provided in the intermediate section that is configured to cool a module inserted into the lower port. Apertures can allow air to flow through the connector system so as to allow for improved cooling by more directly cooling the inserted module. The heat sink can be urged into the lower port by a biasing element.

Connector system with thermal management

The present disclosure relates to an electrical connection apparatus provided on a substrate, comprising a base, a flexible circuit board, two connectors, and a fixing member. The flexible circuit board has a mating portion with a plurality of soldering pads; a mounting portion with a plurality of conductive blocks; and a plurality of conductive traces connecting the plurality of pads and the plurality of conductive blocks. The two connectors each have an insulative housing and a terminal. Each terminal has a soldering portion connected to the soldering pad. The substrate has a plurality of soldering pads connecting the conductive blocks. The fixing member fixes the base to the substrate. The present disclosure utilizes a ground layer of the flexible circuit board to reduce a signal crosstalk between the conductive traces, and utilizes the conductive blocks to connect the flexible circuit board and the substrate to improve coplanarity.

Electrical connection device

A connector is disclosed that includes a cage that defines a first port and second port that are vertically spaced apart. Card slots are positioned in the ports. A thermal management module is positioned between the two ports. The thermal management module directs thermal energy from one or both ports past a rear wall of the connector. A heat sink can be coupled to the thermal management module to improve thermal dissipation.

A socket includes a housing that supports terminal bricks that can contain one or more terminals. The terminal bricks are inserted into apertures in the housing. The location of the terminal bricks can be adjusted separate from a side of the housing, thus providing the potential to improve coplanarity of the terminals in the socket.

A connector is provided with a pair of terminals configured to provide a differential signal pair. A ground terminal is positioned on opposing sides of the differential pair. The body of the differential pair is configured so as to bring the differential pair closer together. In an embodiment, the % coupling on the differential pair is increase at least 5% more than a design where the four terminals are positioned at a constant pitch between the tail and the contact.

Differentially coupled connector

A connector is disclosed that includes housing positioned within a cage, the connector having a first port and second port that are vertically spaced apart. A thermal management module is positioned between the two ports. The thermal management module directs thermal energy from one or both ports out a rear wall of the connector. A heat sink can be coupled to the thermal management module to improve thermal dissipation.

A connector includes a cage that surrounds a housing. The cage defines two vertically spaced apart ports. A chamber is positioned between the ports. The chamber includes a vent wall that is angled to provide additional vent area so as to improve cooling of the connector. An aperture array in a rear wall of the cage can be used to further improve the cooling capabilities of the connector.

A connector is provided with a pair of terminals configured to provide a differential signal pair. A ground terminal is positioned on opposing sides of the differential pair. A connector system includes a plurality of housing mounted on a circuit board and a plurality of cages are provided, each cage enclosing one of the housings, each of the cages including a front face that defines a first port, the cages being spaced apart a predetermined distance. A thermal washer is positioned around the cages, the thermal washer including a front portion and a main portion with air apertures that allow air to flow through the thermal washer and along a gap between the cages.

A connector includes a housing positioned in a cage. A vertical wall is positioned around the housing and is soldered to a printed circuit board that is supporting the connector. The vertical wall includes a plurality of fingers that are configured to engage the cage. The fingers are positioned at intervals such that the distance between the fingers acts to control the frequencies of EMI that emit from the connector.
