Various approaches for managing one or more computational commodities in a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) include receiving a collection of utilization records for a user utilizing a desktop resource supported by the computational commodity in a desktop pool, each utilization record corresponding to a utilization rate of the computational commodity by the user; and augmenting or reducing allocation of the computational commodity to the desktop resource utilized by the user based at least in part on the utilization rates.

Systems and methods for managing resources in a virtual desktop infrastructure

A system and method for generating suggestions to a user using simulated annealing is disclosed. The system includes a user activity processing unit, a recommendation engine, a ranking engine and a simulated annealing engine. The user activity processing unit receives user activities and generates user interests. The simulated annealing engine generates a temperature to control how far to stray from highly relevant suggestions. The recommendation engine generates a query for content and generates at least one suggestion for the user from received content. The ranking engine ranks the at least one suggestion based on a recency of user interests, frequency of actions associated with the user interests and social affinity of the user to other users that generated any of the at least one suggestions.

Simulated annealing in recommendation systems

The subject matter of this specification can be embodied in, among other things, a computer-implemented method for removing noise from audio that includes building a sound model that represents noises which result from activations of input controls of a computer device. The method further includes receiving an audio signal produced from a microphone substantially near the computer device. The method further includes identifying, without using the microphone, an activation of at least one input control from among the input controls. The method further includes associating a portion of the audio signal as corresponding to the identified activation. The method further includes applying, from the audio model, a representation of a noise for the identified activation to the associated portion of the audio signal so as to cancel at least part of the noise from the audio signal.

Removing noise from audio

A system and method is described for centrally managing private computer networks, each of which has a network element assigned the identical IP address. The networks are mapped into domains which each contains only network elements that have unique IP addresses. A separate virtual or physical interface at a management station is associated with each domain whereby management data is exchanged between the management station and a particular domain through a domain-specific interface that is assigned its own IP address. This IP address is inserted as the source address in data transmitted from the management station to the associated domain, thereby enabling a router to discern the domain to which the data should be routed. This IP address is also inserted as a destination address in data transmitted from a domain to the management station, thereby enabling the management station to discern from which domain the received data originated.
