A pick attempt of a media sheet from a media tray is initiated by rotating a pick roller a number of rotations that is set to greater than one in response to the sheet having been designated as a special media sheet type and that is set to one in response to the sheet not having been so designated. In response to a pick sensor detecting the sheet after the pick attempt has been attempted, a turn roller is rotated to advance the sheet to a print engine, and while the turn roller is rotating, the pick roller is rotated to assist advancement of the media sheet. A controller manages per-sheet and per-tray pick attempt counters while the sheet is individually attempted to be picked and advanced, using the counters to determine whether to initiate another pick attempt of the sheet when a current pick attempt has failed.

An example system includes a primary device and at least one auxiliary device connected in series with the primary device. The auxiliary device has an identifier indicative of a position of the auxiliary device in the series. The identifier is based on a resistance value associated with the auxiliary device, the resistance value being based at least in part on an upstream device in the series.

In an example implementation, a stackable component assembly includes a first stackable component with a bottom recess in its bottom surface, and a second stackable component with a top recess in its top surface. A first alignment element is installed in the bottom recess and a second alignment element is installed in the top recess. The second alignment element is nestable within the first alignment element to align the first and second stackable components upon stacking the first stackable component onto the second stackable component.

An apparatus for actuating a lift plate of a media tray is disclosed herein. An example of the apparatus includes a rocker assembly adjacent the lift plate and a slide assembly coupled to the rocker assembly to actuate the rocker assembly subsequent to insertion of the media tray in a printing device, thereby raising the lift plate. The apparatus additionally includes a lock assembly to release the lock assembly upon initiation of opening of the media tray, thereby allowing the lift plate to lower prior to such removal. A media tray and method for actuating a lift plate of a media tray are also disclosed herein.

Embodiments of the invention include a media tray for a media advance mechanism. The media tray includes an access door attached to the media tray via a hinge oriented in a vertical direction and a cleanout disposed on an interior surface of the access door. The access door pivots open around the hinge. The cleanout is mounted such that the cleanout can move translationally along the access door.
