Copolymer of ethylene and ion pair compound

The present invention relates to an ethylene copolymer obtained by radical polymerisation through a high-pressure process comprising (i) &#x2265;78.0 and &#x2264;99.99 mole % of recurring units derived from ethylene; (it) &#x2265;0.01 and &#x2264;22.0 mole % of recurring units derived from comonomer A according to Formula (I), wherein R1 is composed of a saturated aliphatic moiety comprising 5-40 carbon atoms or R1 is composed of a saturated aliphatic moiety and consists of hydrogen atoms and 5-40 carbon atoms; R2 is selected from &#x2014;H or &#x2014;CH; R3 is selected from &#x2014;O&#x2014;, &#x2014;(CO)&#x2014;(NH)&#x2014; or &#x2014;(CO)&#x2014;O&#x2014;; n=0 or 1 The ethylene copolymers have a reduced peak melting temperature and reduced enthalpy of fusion, indicating that these ethylene copolymers have a reduced degree of crystallinity and improved clarity, combined with a desired melt mass-flow rate. 

Ethylene copolymers and process for the production thereof

Disclosed herein are methods for reducing fouling caused by process water present within a water recycling loop of a pyrolysis plant. Fouling is caused by phase separation and accumulation of materials from the process water on equipment surfaces. The method includes applying a total of about 5 ppm to 500 ppm total of a first polymerization inhibitor and second polymerization inhibitor to the process water to form a treated process water, wherein the first polymerization inhibitor has a pygas-water partition coefficient of about 0.0001 to 9 and the second polymerization inhibitor has a pygas-water partition coefficient of about 1000 to 50,000.

Method to inhibit polymerization in a process water

The present invention relates to a process for recycling polyolefin, comprising the steps of: 1) feeding a solid post-consumer polyolefin composition comprising polyolefin and contaminants and a flow of an extraction fluid to an extractor having a pressure of 100-1000 bar and a temperature of 20-80&#xb0; C. to obtain a solid extracted composition, 2) melting the solid extracted composition to obtain a melted composition, 3) providing particles from the melted composition by: 3a) mixing a flow of a supercritical fluid in the melted composition in a pressure vessel to obtain a solution saturated with the supercritical fluid and 3b) passing the solution from the pressure vessel through a throttling device to a spraying tower to expand the solution to obtain polyolefin particles in the spraying tower.

Process for recycling polyolefin

The present invention relates to an ethylene copolymer comprising: (iv) &#x2265;78.0 and &#x2264;99.9 mol % of recurring units derived from ethylene; (v) &#x2265;0.10 and &#x2264;20.0 mol % of a recurring units derived from a comonomer A according to formula (I) wherein R1 is a moiety comprising 1-30 carbon atoms; R2 is selected from &#x2014;H or &#x2014;CH; R3 is selected from &#x2014;O&#x2014;, &#x2014;(CO)&#x2014;(NH)&#x2014; or &#x2014;(CO)&#x2014;O&#x2014;; n=0 or 1; and m&#x2265;1 and &#x2264;10; and (vi) &#x2265;0.01 and &#x2264;2.00 mol % of a recurring units derived from a comonomer B according to formula (II) wherein R1 is a moiety comprising 1-30 carbon atoms; each R2 may individually be selected from &#x2014;H or &#x2014;CH; each of R3 is individually selected from &#x2014;O&#x2014;, &#x2014;(CO)&#x2014;(NH)&#x2014; or &#x2014;(CO)&#x2014;O&#x2014;; n=0 or 1; p=0 or 1; and m&#x2265;1 and &#x2264;10; the mol % of each of (i), (ii) and (iii) being related to the sum of the mol % of (i), (ii) and (iii), the sum of the mol % of (i), (ii) and (iii) adding up to 100 mol %. Such ethylene copolymers have a reduced peak melting temperature and reduced enthalpy of fusion, indicating that these ethylene copolymers have a reduced degree of crystallinity and improved clarity and contact angle, combined with a desired melt mass-flow rate. 

The invention is directed to a composition comprising 90.00 to 99.95 wt % of a polyolefin and 0.05 to 10.00 weight % of an antimicrobial additive based on the total weight of the polyolefin composition wherein the antimicrobial additive comprises a phenolic group and wherein a carrier for the antimicrobial additive is present. The antimicrobial additive may be dispersed through the polyolefin composition. Preferred antimicrobial additives include for example eugenol, isoeugenol, thymol, carvacrol, sesamol, curcumin, p-hydroxybenzoic acid, gallic acid and its ester derivatives (propyl gallate, octyl gallate and dodecyl gallate), ferulic acid, syringic acid, coumaric acid, protocatechuic acid, caffeic acid and/or tannic acid.

Polyolefin composition comprising an antimicrobial additive

The present invention relates to a process for the production of ethylene polymers in a tubular reactor comprising reacting in said tubular reactor a feed composition comprising ethylene and one or more composition comprising one or more cyclic olefin wherein the cyclic olefin is a compound having the structure of Formula (I): wherein R may be a moiety comprising &#x2265;1 and &#x2264;10 carbon atoms; wherein Rand Rmay each individually be hydrogen or a moiety comprising &#x2265;1 and &#x2264;5 carbon atoms, Rand Rmay be the same or different; wherein &#x22c5; the tubular reactor may be operated at a pressure of &#x2265;200 and &#x2264;280 MPa; &#x22c5; the average reaction peak temperature may be &#x2265;220&#xb0; C. and &#x2264;300&#xb0; C.; &#x22c5; the composition comprising one or more cyclic olefin may be fed to the reactor in one or more feed inlet of said tubular reactor; and &#x22c5; said cyclic olefin may be fed to the tubular reactor in quantities of &#x2264;1.0 mol %, with regards to the total feed composition. Such process allows for the production of ethylene polymers having a high density and a high purity.

The one or more antifouling polymers are selected from the group consisting of copolymers of unsaturated fatty acids, primary diamines, and acrylic acid; copolymers of methacrylamidopropyl trimethylammonium chloride with acrylic acid and/or acrylamide; copolymers of ethylene glycol and propylene glycol; and blends of two or more thereof.

Method to disperse byproducts formed in dilution steam systems

Disclosed herein are methods for resolving emulsions formed from oils present in quench waters of ethylene manufacturing operations. The methods include adding a cationic oligomer to the base of a water quench tower having an emulsion formed therein, and collecting a water phase therefrom. The water phase can be applied to a water recycling loop within the manufacturing facility.
