Affinity sensors may exhibit advantaged regeneration behavior when pH is changed in proximity to a sensing element. Such affinity sensors may comprise at least one sensing element comprising a recognition moiety that interacts with an analyte by reversibly forming an analyte complex, and a solid-state pH-modulating element in proximity to the at least one sensing element, wherein formation of the analyte complex is pH-dependent and the at least one sensing element provides a signal that changes when the analyte complex reversibly forms, and a change in magnitude of the signal is correlatable to an amount of analyte interacted with the at least one sensing element.

Regenerable affinity sensors and associated methods

A method of recycling fiber reinforced polymers includes grinding used fiber reinforced polymers material to produce ground particles, functionalizing the ground particles to produce functionalized particles, dispersing the functionalized particles into a base resin, dispensing the resin with functionalized particles into one or more layers of continuous fiber mats, molding the resin with functionalized particles and the continuous fiber mats into a form of a desired part, and curing the form to produce the part. The used fiber reinforced polymer materials may be carbon fiber reinforced polymers or glass fiber reinforced polymer materials.

A method of performing gas separation includes absorbing a target gas from an input stream in a non-sprayable capture liquid, and releasing the target gas in an output gas stream by spraying the non-sprayable capture liquid into a heated volume using a spray generator. A method of performing gas separation includes receiving an input stream that includes a target gas, using one or more spray generators to apply a non-sprayable liquid as a spray to the input stream to change a concentration of the target gas in the liquid, and outputting the liquid with the changed concentration through an outlet.

System and method to separate gases using high viscosity liquid sorbents in a spray contactor

According to aspects of the embodiments, there is provided method and system of using a roller-based deposition process to place two or more powders at some level of precision to build a multi-material, functionally-graded part. Instead of formulating a liquid ink by dispersing the powder feedstocks (metal or ceramic) in some binder-solvent mixture, there is detailed the use of two different types of fluid deposited in a digital manner on the roller surface. The two different types of fluids create a 'wetted pixel' that can then capture a specific powder type with an affinity only to that fluid. Alternatives such as electrostatics, electrophotography, and the like are also provided to be used exclusively or with fluids to create an affine pixel to a particular powder type.

Methods and systems for printing graded materials by roller-based deposition of multiple powders

A method of storing digital data in non-biological sequence-controlled polymers includes converting a digital data file into a monomer sequence, synthesizing polymer chains according to the monomer sequence, and encapsulating the polymer chains into microfluidic droplets and providing the microfluidic droplets with addresses. A polymer data storage system has a first converter to convert digital data to a polymer sequence, a polymer synthesizer to produce polymer chains according to a pre-determined monomer sequence, a fluidic encapsulation system to encapsulate the polymer chains in microfluidic droplets and to apply addressing materials to the microfluidic droplets, a storage for storing the microfluidic droplets, a droplet sorting system having at least an actuator to sort the droplets, a sequencer to derive the polymer sequence from the polymer chains contained in the droplets, and a second converter to convert the polymer sequence to digital data. A composition of matter wherein polymer chains comprising alternating segments of flexible linkers and one or more rigid monomer blocks, and wherein the rigid blocks are defined in a meaningful manner to store in a sequence in the polymer chain that represents digital data.
