A composition is provided that is applicable for providing a non-stick abrasion-resistant coating on a surface, but not as a primer layer, said composition comprising fluoropolymer and an effective amount of ceramic particles having an average size of at least about 10 micrometers to improve the abrasion resistance of said coating on said surface by at least 10% as determined by the dry SBAR method, said composition optionally containing adhesion promoter in an amount up to about 10 wt % of the wt. of said fluoropolymer.

This invention relates to coating compositions and more particularly to highly productive coating compositions that quickly harden for sanding or buffing by incorporating therein a polyisocyanate adduct mixture into the coating composition as the crosslinking material. Such coatings are particularly useful for refinishing automobiles and trucks.

Highly productive coating composition for automotive refinishing

A non-stick coating on a substrate is provided wherein the coating comprises an overcoat and a primer adhering the overcoat to the substrate, the overcoat comprising fluoropolymer and an effective amount of ceramic particles, preferably at least 3 wt % based on the combined weight of the fluoropolymer and the ceramic particles in the overcoat, said ceramic particles having an average particle size of at least about 10 micrometers to increase the abrasion resistance of said coating as determined by the dry SBAR method.

An apparatus for scribing the coating on a coated panel; comprising a base, at least one linear guide affixed to the base, a moveable table, a pivotable bracket mounted on the base, a cutter element mounted on the bracket; a loading mechanism positioned on top of the bracket, such that when the cutter element in the cutter assembly is brought into contact with a panel positioned on the moveable table, the loading mechanism applies a uniform force to the panel position on the table. The cutter element in contact with the panel scribes the panel through the coating thereby forming a scribe of at least one line on the panel.
