According to one aspect of an exemplary embodiment of the disclosure, an imaging device or system includes at least one motor controlled by a motor drive. The motor is selected from one of multiple motors operable by the motor drive. A motor controller is operative to output a modulated voltage to the motor, where the modulated voltage does not cause rotation of the motor. As the motor controller outputs the modulate voltage, either the resultant voltage or the resultant current through the motor is measured. The motor controller uses the measured voltage or current to identify which of the multiple motors is connected to the motor controller and set at least one parameter in the motor controller corresponding to the identified motor.

Device and method for automatic detection and configuration of a motor

According to one aspect of an exemplary embodiment of the disclosure, an imaging device or system, e.g., a mammography imaging system or device, includes a breast holding pad disposed on one or both of a compression paddle and a compression surface on the imaging device. The breast holding pad is formed with a central layer, a first, securing adhesive layer on one side of the central layer and a second, biocompatible adhesive layer disposed on the opposite side of the central layer. The biocompatible adhesive operates to securely hold the breast during any imaging and/or biopsy procedure performed utilizing the imaging system. Further, with the use of one or both pads, the amount of compression force required to hold the breast in a stationary position between the compression paddle and the compression surface can be reduced, thereby decreasing the discomfort to the patient during the imaging and/or biopsy procedure performed.

Device and method for securely holding breast on mammography imaging system

According to one aspect of an exemplary embodiment of the disclosure, an imaging device or system, e.g., a mammography imaging system or device, includes a distance and location sensing system on the imaging system/e to provide accurate distance and position information from one or more sensing device(s) constituting the system that measure the elapsed time between the emission of the wave or radiation from the sensing device and the detection of the reflected wave or radiation. Examples of the types of sensing devices include ultrasound sensing devices, MEMS radar devices and time-of-flight (ToF) sensing devices. The distance information can be employed to determine the relative positions to produce a distance map illustrating the position and shape of any objects sensed within the zone by the sensing device(s), to determine the rate of change of the positions, i.e., the speed, of the objects relative to one another for use in controlling movement of various components of the imaging system, and to determine the shape of the object and changes in the shape of the object.
