A novel method for applying adjuvants to fabric employing a tumbler-type dryer is disclosed. To achieve uniform distribution in the dryer, the adjuvant, such as a fabric softening agent in accordance with the present invention, is combined with a distributing agent spreadable under the dryer conditions, the concentration of the distributing agent being at least about 5% by weight of the mixture of adjuvant and distributing agent. Novel compositions of matter and articles suitable for use in the practice of this invention are also disclosed.

A novel method for applying adjuvants to fabric employing a tumbler-type dryer is disclosed. This application discloses a novel fabric softening composition which is a dispersed complex of a cationic nitrogenous compound and an anionic detergent, the complex containing two or more alkyl radicals having from 15 to 24 carbon atoms, the dispersing agent used being an ethylene oxide condensate of a hydrophobic organic radical having from 50% to 80% ethylene oxide.

The present invention relates to a shampoo composition having dissolved therein a hair grooming agent, which agent becomes insoluble upon dilution with water during shampooing, depositing on the hair to impart desirable properties to the hair, such as body, set, sheen and ease of combing. More particularly the present invention discloses a shampoo composition comprising a surfactant system, a solvant system, a hair grooming agent, soluble in the solvent and/or solvent surfactant/systems and insoluble in water, and, in preferred embodiments, a hair lubricant which may be dissolved or dispersed in the surfactant-solvent system or form part of a distinct phase in a multi-phase composition.
