An apparatus including a first antenna array including first radiators arranged at a plurality of vertices defining a first shape; and a second antenna array including second radiators arranged at a plurality of vertices defining a second shape, wherein a first subset and a second subset of the first radiators are configured to operate at different polarizations, wherein a first subset and a second subset of the second radiators are configured to operate at different polarizations, and wherein the first shape and the second shape partially overlap, wherein a radiator of the first radiators is within an area defined by the second shape, and one or more other radiators of the first radiators are outside the area defined by the second shape.

Antenna apparatus

An apparatus including a dipole antenna, configured for operation with a first polarization, the dipole antenna including a feed; and a pair of conductive elements fed by the feed, wherein the pair of conductive elements are grounded, and extend in parallel on opposing sides of the feed and then diverge.

Dipole antenna

A multiband antenna structure having an open rectangular box shape is arranged to provide identical electrical lengths for all of its radiating elements notwithstanding that the physical dimensions of portions of the multiband antenna may not be identical. Advantageously, such a multiband antenna may be interleaved with a 5G antenna array having unequal spacing between the 5G antennas or having an offset between at least one of the rows and the columns. This may be achieved by incorporating a dielectric material in at least one radiating element, by forming a radiating element with a serpentine shape, by having a radiating element follow a chicane, by incorporating a reflector of a 5G array, or by employing capacitive coupling.

Multiband antenna structure

An active passive antenna arrangement as made up of an array of 5G antennas interleaved with multiband antenna structures that may be low band (LB) passive antennas. The 5G antenna array may be a mMIMO active array. The LB antennas are formed using conductive elements on thin supporting sheets that fit within the space between the 5G antennas. The substrates, and hence the radiating elements of the LB antennas, may be arranged so as to generally appear to form four sides of a rectangular box with the top and bottom surfaces removed. Thus, the LB antennas may be thought of as having been 'slipped in' amongst a preexisting array of 5G antennas. Each LB antenna may surround one or more of the 5G antennas and 5G antennas of the array may also be external to an LB antenna.

An antenna system including a first antenna, a second antenna and a third antenna. The antenna system includes a feed for feeding a first common signal to radiator elements of one of the second antenna or third, with a first phase difference between the radiator elements configured for a first polarization and the radiator elements being configured for a second polarization, to create a virtual polarization, wherein the virtual polarization is aligned with one of the first polarization or the second polarization in a first frequency band.

Antenna system

An antenna assembly and method are disclosed. The antenna assembly comprises: a printed circuit board assembly having a radiating element layer and a choke structure, the choke structure having a central conductor and a shielding structure, wherein the central conductor comprises at least a portion of the radiating element layer. By providing a printed circuit board assembly having a radiating element layer and a choke structure which utilises a portion of the radiating element layer, the manufacture of the radiating elements is simplified.

Antenna assembly

In a first aspect of the present disclosure, an antenna includes: a ground plane; a central support extending from the ground plane, the central support having two feeding probes, each of the feeding probes having a first part and a second part, each of the first part and the second part being separated from one another and from the first and second parts of the other feeding probe; and four radiating arms, one radiating arm extending from each of the first and second parts of each feeding probe, wherein at least a portion of at least two of the radiating arms extends in directions different from orientations of their respective parts of the feeding probes. In a second aspect, an antenna array includes: a plurality of antennas disposed in an array on a common ground plane, wherein each of the antennas comprises: a central support extending from the common ground plane, the central support having two feeding probes, each of the feeding probes having a first part and a second part, each of the first part and the second part being separated from one another and from the first and second parts of the other feeding probe; and four radiating arms, one radiating arm extending from each of the first and second parts of each feeding probe, wherein at least a portion of at least two of the radiating arms extends in directions different from orientations of their respective parts of the feeding probes.

Tripod radiating element

An antenna comprising: a longitudinal support member for supporting components of the antenna and a method of assembling such an antenna is disclosed. The components supported by the longitudinal member comprise: at least one signal feed probe configured to capacitively supply a signal to a corresponding at least one radiating patch; the at least one radiating patch mounted to at least partially wraparound the longitudinal support member; and signal supply circuitry for supplying a signal to the at least one signal feed. The signal supply circuitry is mounted on an outer surface of the inner longitudinal support member; and the longitudinal support member is formed of a conductive material and forms a ground plane for the antenna.

Antenna and method of assembly of such antenna

The present application provides a multi-band antenna, comprising at least one low-band sub-antenna; and at least one high-band sub-antenna comprising at least one high-band dipole and a reflector; wherein the high-band dipole and/or the reflector are/is structured and positioned so that current induced in the high-band sub-antenna by the low-band sub-antenna is directed to reflector over an extended effective distance in proportion to wavelength of the low-band sub-antenna.
