Systems and methods for privacy and sensitive data protection. An image of a document is received at a pre-processing stage and image pre-processing is applied to the image to ensure that the resulting image is sufficient for further processing. Pre-processing may involve processing relating to image quality and image orientation. The image is then passed to an initial processing stage. At the initial processing stage, the relevant data in the document are located and bounding boxes are placed around the data. The resulting image is then passed to a processing stage. At this stage, the type of data within the bounding boxes is determined and suitable replacement data is generated. The replacement data is then inserted into the image to thereby remove and replace the sensitive data in the image.

Sensitive data detection and replacement

Systems and methods for document analysis. An image containing at least one document is received at a pre-processing stage and the image is analyzed for image quality. If the image quality is insufficient for further processing, this is adjusted until the image is suitable for further processing. After the image quality adjustment, the image is then passed to an initial processing stage. At the initial processing stage, the boundaries of one or more documents within the image are determined. In addition, the orientation of the image may be adjusted and the type of document(s) within the image is determined. From the initial processing stage, the adjusted image is then passed to a data extraction stage. At this stage, clusters of data within the document are determined and bounding boxes are placed around the clusters. Data regarding each of the clusters of data is then gathered.

Methods and apparatuses are provided for improving word prediction candidate selection in an electronic device. Input of one or more characters is received via a capacitive physical keyboard. A word prediction process generates a set of word prediction candidates, determines a unique character in each word prediction candidate, and displays the word prediction candidates along with visual indicia to indicate the unique character. A second input is then received comprising a tap input of a single character on the keyboard. The electronic device determines whether the second input corresponds to a unique character associated with any of the word prediction candidates, and if so, displays the selected word in an input field on the display.

Method and apparatus for word prediction selection

A method of authenticating access on an electronic device. A digital image overlaid by an array of alphanumeric characters is displayed on a three-dimensional display of the electronic device. The digital image includes a three-dimensional representation of a scene and is displayed in three-dimensional coordinates. The array of alphanumeric characters is positioned on the three-dimensional display with respect to the digital image in three dimensions in response to received input. Access to the electronic device is authenticated in response to detecting that a designated character in the digital image is aligned with a designated object in the digital image.

A portable electronic device is provided. The portable electronic device includes a memory configured to store instructions, and a screen configured to display data. The portable electronic device also includes a keyboard including a plurality of physical keys configured to receive key inputs. Each of the physical keys is associated with inputting a primary character and a secondary character. The portable electronic device further includes a processor configured to execute the instructions to detect an input of a physical key, determine whether the input is a press input or a tap input, the press input being associated with inputting the primary character, and the tap input being associated with inputting the secondary character. The processor is further configured to execute the instructions to enable display on the screen of the secondary character associated with the physical key based on the determination that the input is a tap input.

Systems and methods of transmitting location data based on wireless communication activity can include a location transmitting device having a sensor communicatively coupled to a low-power transmitter. The transmitter (e.g., a Bluetooth&#x2122; transmitter) can transmit location data from which an electronic device can derive its location. The sensor can be a sensor configured to detect wireless data transmissions (e.g., cellular data transmissions). In one example, the transmitter can transmit location data in response to the sensor detecting data transmissions of an electronic device. The transmitter can remain in an idle, standby, or otherwise low-power state until the sensor detects data transmissions of an electronic device. In response, the transmitter can transmit data which can be received by the electronic device. The electronic device can then derive the electronic device's location from the data transmitted by the transmitter.

After operating the device in a first operational context, information is received providing the user the option to switch to operation in a second context. Responsive to user input indicating a control switch to the second context, the device may be operated in the second context. Methods and apparatuses are provided for improving character entry in an electronic device. User input of one or more characters is received via a capacitive physical keyboard. A second user input is then received indicating a desire to add or remove a word completion, such as a prefix or a suffix, to the first set of characters. Based on a generated list of word completion rules, the electronic device modifies the word based on the user input, and outputs the completed word for display.

A system and method for transferring control of media playback between electronic devices. Playback of media content is initiating at a source device and peer-to-peer device pairing is established with a destination device. Media content from the source device is streamed to the destination device and a determination of whether to transfer media playback control to the destination device is made based on characteristics of the media content. The control of media playback may be transferred to the destination device based on the destination device having a local copy of the streaming media content, a playlist with similar characteristics to the streaming media content, a local media content having similar characteristics to the streaming media content, or a local playlist similar to the playlist from the source device. The peer-to-peer device pairing is terminated when media playback control is transferred, thereby preserving battery and processing power to the source device.

A mobile device may include a display, an optical sensor having a field of view, a movement sensor, a first near-field communication (NFC) device, and a controller. The controller may be configured to display the field of view of the optical sensor on the display, locate a second NFC device within the field of view, and display a direction indicator(s) on the display to indicate a guide direction of movement to align the first NFC device with the second NFC device. When the second NFC device falls outside the field of view, the controller may be configured to display the guide direction indicator(s) on the display to relocate the second NFC device within the field of view based upon the movement sensor. The controller may also be configured to cause the first NFC device to communicate with the second NFC device based upon proximity to the second NFC device.
