An adaptor which may be secured to the lower end of a lower limb prosthesis which would allow the lower limb prosthesis to be secured to an ankle joint or prosthetic foot with a mechanical locking or anchoring type of fixation. What is provided is the lower limb prosthesis which would include an upper socket portion for receiving the stump of the wearer, a limb portion which extends from the socket portion down to approximately the ankle portion of the wearer, and an adaptor portion. The adaptor portion would further include a triangulated base portion which would mate with the lower end of the prosthetic limb. There would be further included a second barb portion extending from the base portion, which would define an area between the barb portion extending from the base portion, so that when the adaptor is fabricated onto the limb through either a lamination process or a drape molding process, the adaptor is secured more tightly against the limb during the fabrication process. Further, there is included a threaded collar secured within a bore of the base portion, for threadingly engaging the base portion to the upper end of an ankle and/or prosthetic foot of the wearer.

Prosthetic adaptor and prosthetic limb using same

A lower leg prosthetic assembly having an anterior and posterior components, comprising curved linear leaf springs extending along substantially the length of the assembly, each spring bowed away from one another along substantially their mid-length. There is further provided a wedge member for engaging the lower end of each spring while in position in a prosthetic foot, and wedgingly securing the anterior and posterior springs to a prosthetic foot member, for allowing increased rotation at the ankle joint. Further the upper ends of the leaf springs may be secured to the upper portion of the assembly with a wedge member, wedgingly securing the springs to the upper member, or attached to a socket member, both types of attachments for decreasing rotation at the knee joint. There may be further provided an achilles strap extending along the posterior spring for offering additional vertical loading without increased elongation of the rear spring.

Dual leaf spring strut system

An artificial ankle system which is mounted within an artificial foot, such as a S.A.C.H. foot, with the ankle system comprising upper and lower plates, having a pair of spaced apart solid compressible members known as bonded rubber springs, which are attached to the upper and lower plates via gluing or the like, the rubber spring and plate system boltingly attached to the lower portion of the foot, and attached to a prosthesis to the upper prosthetic portion of the leg. This system further provides at least a posterior strap member secured around the upper and lower plate, the strap member serving as a means for compressing the posterior rubber spring to a certain degree, so that it is pre-compressed while being utilized in static or standing position, but allowing the rubber spring to also function in tension or elongation to a predetermined point. There may be further included an anterior strap, which likewise would compress the anterior spring as a strap that is fitted around the upper and lower plates. Those portions of the upper and lower plates resting above the anterior rubber spring.

Multi-axial rotation system for artificial ankle

A dual ankle spring foot ankle system comprising generally of a first and second die helical springs attached proximally to a top ankle plate and distally to a plantar base plate. The anterior and posterior springs are attachably engaged to the lower face of the lower portion of the upper ankle plate and upper face of the base plate through a helical nut for helically engaging the spring around its body portion for rigid attachment of the spring to the plate themselves, yet maintaining maximum flexion. The system further includes a rear positioned flexible member extending from the upper plate to the bottom plate for serving as a 'achilles tendon' and minimizing elongation of the posterior spring beyond a certain point. There is further provided a downwardly depending forward portion of the base plate for insertion into a soft foot member so that the ankle system is substantially incorporated into the foot system as the ankle is utilized. A second embodiment would include a stepped base plate for insertion into a 'rigid' artificial foot for achieving the maximum absorption, storing and release of the artificial ankle in the foot ankle system.
