The present invention is an insulating end cap which provides mechanical support to the end turns of the coils. The mechanical support provides insulation by axially, radially and diametrically separating end turns of coils within phases, and end turns of coils of different phases. Additionally, mechanical insulative support is given to coil-to-coil crossovers and also to coil-to-terminal connections. The end cap may be formed integrally by an injection molding method. Further, the end cap removes the need for a cuffed, grain-oriented insulative lamination stack slot liner by providing support for the liner. The liner becomes independent of stack length. The end cap is designed to be symmetrical and one end cap design is suitable for use at both ends of an armature.

Insulating armature end turn cap

A dynamo assembly comprising a stator assembly and rotor assembly as shown. The preferred rotor assembly comprises two end caps, a single wire strand, a collector ring assembly and a plurality of laminants. The two end caps are preferably identical to one another, and oriented with the wire wrapped in two coils therearound. The laminants are supported between the two end caps, in a skewed manner. An advantageous arrangement for engagement between the collector ring assembly and wire held on the end caps is provided. A unique method of molding the collector ring assembly without internal inserts is also disclosed.

Collector ring assembly and method

A stator termination assembly comprising a gate member, a terminator, terminals, a terminator cover and electrical plug assemblies. The preferred assembly comprises an arcuate gate member having that operate to lead a stator magnet wire extension from stator lamination assembly to a terminal where a solderless electrical connection can be made. The terminator accepts stator magnet wire extensions and terminals so that an electrical connection can be made. A terminator cover helps secure and align the terminals into the terminator so that an electrical connection can be made between the terminals and an electrical plug assembly.

Insulator for terminating electrodynamic stator coils
