Determining location of a Backscatter Devices (BKD) may be provided. A first quadrant of the first AP where the BKD is potentially located based on a first signal level, a second signal level, and a third signal level. A second quadrant of a second AP where the BKD is potentially located may be determined. A third quadrant of a third AP where the BKD is potentially located may be determined. A location of the BKD may be determined at an intersection of the first quadrant, the second quadrant, and the third quadrant.

Determining location of a backscatter device

In one embodiment, a device receives discovery data generated by a plurality of networking devices in a network. The device determines, based on the discovery data, a hierarchy of layers of the network. The device receives a request by a client that is external to the network to access remotely a particular endpoint in the network. The device configures, and in response to the request, a proxy chain of remote access agents executed by a subset of networking devices from the plurality of networking devices to allow the client to access remotely the particular endpoint, each of those networking devices proxying traffic between different layers of the network.

Multi-layered secure equipment access

A method comprising: at an access point configured with a first basic service set identifier (BSSID): performing an association process by which one or more wireless stations wirelessly associate to the access point using the first BSSID; and while the one or more wireless stations remain associated to the access point: sending, to the one or more wireless stations, a protected management frame configured to indicate that the access point will rotate from the first BSSID to a second BSSID; after sending, rotating from the first BSSID to the second BSSID while maintaining continuity of association to the one or more wireless stations; and after rotating, communicating with the one or more wireless stations using the second BSSID.

Fine Time Measurement (FTM) improvement for AP self-positioning may be provided. First, an Access Point (AP) graph may be generated. An AP pair may be determined for FTM AP self-positioning based on the AP graph, A plurality of Transmit (TX) signals may be sent to a paired AP of the AP pair using two more TX antennas, wherein the plurality of TX signals include FTM action frames and have a first constant Cyclic Shift Delay (CSD). A plurality of Receive (RX) signals may be received from the paired AP using two or more RX antennas, wherein the plurality of RX signals include FTM action frames and have a second constant CSD, Outlier RX signals having a low Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) may be removed from the plurality of RX signals. An AP position may be determined based on the plurality of RX signals.

Fine time measurement improvement for access point self-positioning

Fine Time Measurement (FTM) Location Configuration Information (LCI) protection and, specifically, FTM LCI protection with authentication and selective client enablement may be provided. To perform FTM LCI protection, a controller may first obtain a key-pair including a public key and a private key from a Certificate Authority (CA). The controller my determine a venue location where an Access Point (AP) is located. The controller may send a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) with the venue location to the CA. In response to sending the CSR, the controller may receive a public key certificate from the CA, wherein the public key certificate includes the venue location. The AP may receive a request for Location Configuration Information (LCI) from a Station (STA), wherein the LCI includes an AP location. The AP creates a hash of LCI of the AP using the private key and sends the LCI and the hash to the STA.

Fine time measurement location configuration information protection

Techniques for wireless communication are disclosed. These techniques include defining a message schedule for fine time measurement (FTM) at a first wireless access point (AP). The techniques further include broadcasting the message schedule to a plurality of wireless stations (STAs) from the first AP. The techniques further include receiving, at the first AP, a plurality of FTM messages from the plurality of STAs, the messages transmitted by the plurality of STAs based on the message schedule. The techniques further include determining a distance between the first AP and each of the plurality of STAs based on the plurality of FTM messages.

Full mesh fine time measurement

Fine Time Measurement (FTM) improvement and, specifically, trigger based FTM improvements via efficiently grouping initiators may be provided. A plurality of probe requests transmitted by a plurality of initiators is received. For each probe request, a Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) and Channel State Information (CSI) is determined, and a distance between an initiator and an associated responder associated with the probe request is determined based on the RSSI and the CSI. Line of Sight (LOS) or Non Line of Sight (NLOS) relationships between the plurality of initiators and one or more responders is determined based on the CSI. One or more groups of initiators is determined from the plurality of initiators based on the LOS or NLOS relationships and the distances determined for each probe request, wherein the responders and the initiators perform FTM based on the one or more groups of initiators.

Trigger based fine time measurement improvement via efficient grouping

Wireless infrastructure upgrading may be provided. An Access Point (AP) may be caused to decline new association requests received from client devices not associated with the AP. Next, the AP may be caused to instruct client devices associated with the AP that detect a signal level from the AP to be below their roaming margin to roam away from the AP. Then the power of the signal level from the AP may be decreased by a predetermined amount. Causing the AP to instruct client devices associated with the AP that detect the signal level from the AP to be below their roaming margin to roam away from the AP and decreasing the power of the signal level from the AP may be repeated until the power of the signal level from the AP is at a predetermined level.

Upgrading wireless infrastructure through scheduling

Access point devices can be equipped with Machine Learning (ML) models to improve access point device operations. An access point device operating mode can be sent to a controller. The access point device operating mode can indicate multiple network protocols employed at the access point device. The controller can provide a coarse ML model to the access point device, wherein the coarse ML model is based on the operating mode. The access point device can then use local network traffic data, processed by the access point device, to train and refine the coarse ML model, and the access point device can use the resulting trained ML model in connection with network traffic processing determinations.

Configuration of multi-personality access points

Methods are provided to determine validity of a MAC address. The methods involve obtaining a media access control (MAC) address validity message that indicates a plurality of valid MAC addresses in the wireless network using a fully-exploded format or a probabilistic data structure and determining whether a MAC address is valid based on the MAC address validity message. Other methods involve obtaining a query regarding a validity of a media access control (MAC) address, determining whether the MAC address is a value included in a data set of expected values of a probabilistic data structure. The data set represents a list of MAC addresses. The other methods involve determining whether the MAC address is valid in the wireless network based on determining whether the MAC address is the value included in the data set and providing a response indicating whether the MAC address is valid.

Preventing abuse of media access control addresses by rogue devices

A method comprising: at a multi-link device (MLD) configured for multi-link operation: establishing a first Internet Protocol (IP) stack of a first IP type and configured with a first IP address of the first IP type, wherein the first IP stack is associated to a first MLD media access control (MAC) address of a first station of the MLD; establishing a second IP stack of a second IP type and configured with a second IP address of the second IP type, wherein the second IP stack exists concurrently with the first IP stack and is associated to a second MLD MAC address of a second station of the MLD; and exchanging, with a peer MLD, IP traffic using one or more of (i) the first IP stack and the first MLD MAC address, and (ii) the second IP stack and the second MLD MAC address.

Seamless MAC address rotation in multi-link device using multiple IP stacks

A system and method for using 802.11v action report messages to enhance roaming. In one embodiment, a method includes transmitting, to a station, a transition management message that identifies a recommended access point for roaming for the station, receiving, from the station, an action report in response to the transition management message, where the action report indicates feedback to the recommended access point identified in the transition management message, and determining a roaming recommendation based on the action report.

Using 802.11v action report messages to enhance roaming

Techniques for wireless device roaming are disclosed. These techniques include identifying a wireless client entity for roaming from a first infrastructure entity to a second infrastructure entity. The techniques further include agreeing, between the client entity and the first infrastructure entity, on one or more roaming conditions defined using transition parameters for transition of a first data flow for the client entity from the first infrastructure entity to the second infrastructure entity, the one or more transition parameters including a sequence number relating to the dataflow. The techniques further include determining that a first condition defined in terms of a transition parameter of the agreed one or more roaming conditions is met, and, based on the determining, transitioning from providing the first dataflow from the first infrastructure entity to the client entity to providing the first data flow from the second infrastructure entity to the client entity.

Orchestrated roaming point

Disclosed herein are a system and method for efficiently routing high-priority frames through a wireless network based on markings of the frames by a data link layer, a network layer, or an application layer in a five-layer protocol stack. When a real-time application, such as a video or gaming application, is to be sent to one or more stations in the wireless network, the access point determines the strategy for routing the high-priority frames based on the markings received from the data link, network, or application layer. Strategies include discarding non-I frames when there is congestion in the wireless network, replicating I-frames to assure reliable delivery to the stations, scheduling I-frames with preference, and moving I-frames ahead in a buffer in the access point.
