There is provided a voltage mode push-pull driver output stage with low power consumption and improved output return loss (ORL) suitable for various high bandwidth data transmission applications. By structuring the output stage to have tunable resistances adjustable by voltages applied to transistors, the output stage is readily adaptable to different applications requiring different resistances or impedance matching.

Various circuits and methods are provided for driving a laser. A laser driver circuit is configured to generate a modulated current through a laser. Also, a peak current source is employed to generate a peak current that is differentially applied to the laser to enhance a transition rate of the laser.

Various laser drivers and methods are provided. In one embodiment, a laser driver is provided that comprises a laser driver circuit having a common anode portion and a common cathode portion. The common anode portion and the common cathode portion are each configured to drive a laser. Also, the laser driver includes a control input to alternatively enable one of the common anode portion and the common cathode portion to drive the laser.

Various systems and methods are provided for biasing a laser. In one example, a feedback circuit establishes a bias current in a laser. A stabilizing capacitor is coupled to the feedback circuit, the stabilizing capacitor slowing the response of the feedback circuit to a feedback input. A capacitor charging circuit is included in the feedback circuit. The capacitor charging circuit is activated upon a start-up of the feedback circuit to charge the stabilizing capacitor. Thereafter, the capacitor charging circuit is deactivated when a charge on the stabilizing capacitor reaches a predefined charge threshold.
