A patient-support apparatus includes a patient-support deck movable from a use position to a stowed position. The patient-support deck is configured to engage receivers of the patient-support apparatus to support the deck in a cantilevered configuration. The patient-support deck may be secured to the patient-support apparatus by a locking mechanism. A storage structure is configured to support the patient-support deck in a stowed position. The storage structure is configured to deflect under load to prevent damage to the storage structure or patient-support deck.

A patient-support apparatus includes receivers for supporting a patient-support deck. The patient-support deck is configured to engage the receivers to support the deck in a cantilevered configuration. The patient-support deck may be secured to the patient-support apparatus by a locking mechanism.

A limb support coupled to a patient-support apparatus comprises a frame having a pair of locks to block vertical and horizontal pivoting of the limb support in relation to the patient-support apparatus. The lock release actuator is configured to be coupled to the frame to simultaneously unlock both the vertical and horizontal rotation locks. The limb support includes a stowable leg support configured to provide support to the leg of a patient during obstetric delivery.

A patient support apparatus includes a base having a first side, a second side, a head end, and a foot end, a head end caster and a foot end caster coupled to the base on the first side near the respective head and foot ends, and a head end link and a foot end link located on the first side and operably associated with the respective head and foot end casters on the first side. The head and foot end links on the first side move longitudinally in opposite directions to brake the respective head and foot end casters on the first side.

A limb support coupled to a patient-support apparatus includes a multi-axis pivot mount having a first joint mounted to the patient-support apparatus, an arm coupled to the first joint on a first end for pivotable movement thereabout, and a second joint coupled to a second end of the arm for pivotable movement thereabout. A cushion assembly is mounted to the second joint for pivotable movement of the cushion assembly in relation to the second joint.

A staple driving tool and a method for clamping and stapling together two or more steel workpiece layers as in light gauge steel framing for residential and commercial buildings, truss assembly, and the like. The stapling tool has a guide body and a jaw assembly supporting an anvil. The jaw assembly is pivoted to a mounting bar extending along and beneath the tool magazine. The jaw is pivotable between a normal open position and a closed position wherein it clamps the steel workpiece layers to be joined between the anvil and the guide body prior to stapling. The jaw is pivotable by an air cylinder actuated toggle mechanism. An air valve normally connects the air cylinder to atmosphere. When actuated, the air valve connects the air cylinder to a source of pressurized air, shifting the jaw to clamping position. The air valve may be actuated by one of the tool safety and the tool trigger. Thereafter, the tool operator may release the trigger or safety to reposition the tool, or the operator may complete actuation of the trigger to drive a staple through the clamped steel layers, causing the anvil the clinch the staple against the steel layers. As the staple approaches the steel layers to be joined, a member enters between the staple legs to prevent buckling thereof until the staple penetrates the steel layers, whereafter the member is shifted by the staple crown and driver from between the legs to accommodate the staple crown and driver.

Stapler and method for the attachment of steel framing

A screw feed and driver assembly which may constitute a part of a screw driving tool of the type having a prime mover, a speed and torque determining gear assembly and a clutch; which can constitute an accessory for a clutch containing manual feed power screw driver; and which, combined with a clutch, can comprise an accessory for a standard manual power drill. The screw feed and driver assembly comprises a feed housing with a slide body mounted therein and shiftable between forward and rearward positions. The slide body is biased to its forward position. The slide body receives a strip bearing screws. A contact foot is mounted on the slide body and shifts the slide body rearwardly when pressed against a workpiece. A screw driver, affixed to the clutch, extends into the slide body. The slide body contains a pawl and feed sprocket assembly. The sprocket engages notches in one edge of the screw bearing strip. When the slide body is shifted rearwardly by the contact foot, the pawl rotates the sprocket a predetermined amount to advance the forwardmost screw of the strip to a driving position. Further rearward movement of the slide body engages a driver with the forwardmost screw and thereafter actuates the clutch to drive the forwardmost screw. The mounting of the contact foot on the slide body can be adjusted to accommodate different length screws. An adjustable stop block determines the rearwardmost position of the slide body and the depth to which the screws are driven. An improved clutch mechanism substantially eliminates clutch chatter.

An endoscopic surgical apparatus capable of ligation and division. The apparatus has a frame and a tubular shaft attached to said frame. Also attached to the frame is a handle. The apparatus has ligating means and cutting means. Actuation means are mounted to the apparatus for actuating both the ligating means and the cutting means. The apparatus has a clutch means capable of enabling the actuating means to switch between a first mode for actuating the ligating means and a second mode for actuating the cutting means. The cutting means is preferably an extendable J-hook and blade assembly. The cutting means and ligating means are preferably rotatable with respect to the frame. The ligation and division apparatus may be used to ligate and cut blood vessels or tissue in a mammalian body cavity during a surgical procedure.

Endoscopic ligation and division instrument

An endoscopic cutting apparatus for use in endoscopic surgical procedures. The apparatus has a frame having a proximal end and a distal end. A handle is attached to the proximal end of the frame. Hook means are mounted to the distal end of the frame for engaging tissue or blood vessels. The hook means has a track means. Cutting blade means are mounted to said frame and are movable within said track means to cut tissue or blood vessels engaged within said hook means. Actuating means are mounted to the frame to actuate the cutting means in order to cut tissue or blood vessels engages within said hook means. Optional rotation means are mounted to the frame to allow the hook means and cutting means to rotate with respect to the frame. Optional extension means extend and retract the hook means into and out of the distal end of the frame.

Endoscopic cutting apparatus

A surgical stapling instrument for performing a circular anastomosis stapling operation is provided. The surgical instrument includes a stapling head assembly mounted by a curved shaft to an actuator handle assembly and incorporates an improved actuator mechanism for transmitting the required operating forces and movements from the actuator handle assembly through the curved shaft to an anvil and staple driver of the stapling head assembly. The stapling head assembly includes a longitudinally movable trocar detachably secured by one or more retainer clips on a hollow shaft of the anvil. When the trocar is retracted, the anvil shaft slides into a central support tube which aligns the anvil axially and circumferentially with a staple holder on the stapling head assembly. The retainer clips are locked against the trocar by the support tube and transmit tension from the trocar to the anvil with no tension load on the anvil shaft. The actuator mechanism permits adjustment of the anvil gap to produce a desired staple height and precludes actuation of the staple head assembly if the anvil gap is set outside of a predetermined range. Also, the actuator mechanism is adapted to both advance and retract the staple driver relative to the staple holder in the stapling head assembly. Further, an improved arrangement for attaching the support shaft to the stapling head assembly and to the actuator handle assembly is provided.
