The invention relates to an accessory () for connection to an electrical interface () of a portable electronic device (), which interface comprises a pair of bias voltage providing connection points including a first connection point () and a second connection point () for biasing a signal providing element () that may be provided in the accessory. The accessory includes a first electrical branch comprising a first voltage dividing element (R) and a first switch () that can be actuated mechanically. The branch has a first end to be connected to one connection point () in the pair and a second end to be connected to another connection point () for changing the voltage level of the connection point connected to the first end to a certain voltage level when the first switch interconnects the first voltage dividing element and this connection point.

Accessory for a portable electronic device

A device may include a first connector configured to connect to a portable device and a second connector configured to connect to a power source. The device may also include circuitry configured to provide a first charging current to the portable device via the first connector when the second connector is connected to a power adapter coupled to a power outlet and provide a second charging current to the portable device via the first connector when the second connector is connected to a universal serial bus port of a host device.

A cellular communication terminal is configured to function as a mouse for a proximately located computer. The cellular communication terminal includes a cellular transceiver, a communication interface, an accelerometer, and a controller. The cellular transceiver is configured to communicate over a wireless cellular interface with a cellular network. The communication interface is configured to be communicatively coupled to the proximately located computer. The accelerometer is configured to generate acceleration information that is indicative of movement of the terminal. The controller is configured to communicate through the cellular transceiver with the cellular network according to a cellular communication protocol, and to selectively operate in a mouse mode during which the controller generates terminal movement information based on the acceleration information from the accelerometer and communicates the terminal movement information through the communication interface to the proximately located computer. The communication interface may be a short-range wireless communication transceiver and/or a wired interface, such as a USB interface. Related terminals and methods are disclosed for using the terminal to provide mouse type functions for a user application in the terminal and/or an application on a remotely located communication device.

Cellular communication terminals and methods that sense terminal movement for cursor control

In some embodiments, a method is provided for identifying a communication interface of an electronic unit attached to a connector of an electronic device. A voltage pulse is generated in the device on a pin of the connector. The voltage on the pin is measured, as it is affected by a load in the unit. The measured voltage is compared with predetermined voltage criteria. Communication interface identification is performed on the unit dependent on the comparison.
