The invention relates to a method and a sensor device () for evaluating an assay with a sample. During the assay, optical measurements are made at a sensing surface (), and at least one 'homogeneity-image' of the sensing surface () is generated. From this image, an “homogeneity-indicator” is determined for at least one region of interest, and the optical measurements are then evaluated in dependence on said indicator. The homogeneity-indicator may for example be a binary value which indicates if an inhomogeneity was detected or not. If an inhomogeneity was detected, all optical measurements may be rejected, only measurements for the involved region of interest may be rejected, or measurements for a selected sub-area of the involved region of interest (ROI) may be rejected.

Evaluating assays with optical inhomogeneities

The invention relates to a system () for optically detecting at least one substance in a fluid (). The system () comprises particles () arranged to be dispersed in the fluid (), each one comprising a magnetic bead () and an agent (). The agent () is reactive with said substance such that it gives a specific optical response upon a determined optical excitation or a chemical reaction. The system () further comprises a chamber () to contain said fluid () and particles (). The chamber () is closed at one side by a window () optically transparent to the wavelengths of said optical response and said optical excitation. The system () further comprises an optical reading system () adapted to detect at least a portion of said optical response. The system () further comprises magnetic sources () arranged to magnetically move the particles () onto or close to the window (). The optical reading system () is positioned to receive at least a portion of the optical response from the at least one agent () located onto or close to the window (). Optical detection of a substance in fluid

A system () for detecting an analyte of interest in a sample is disclosed that comprises a measurement chamber () for metering the sample and including a defined concentration of an activator () causing the generation of a product when interacting with the analyte of interest, a heating element () thermally coupled to the measurement chamber, a controller () adapted to control the heating element such that the measurement chamber is maintained at a defined temperature (T), a sensor () adapted to detect said product, a timer () adapted to time an interaction time between the sample and the activator; and a processor () responsive to the sensor and the timer. The processor is adapted to, upon addition of the sample to the measurement chamber, determine an amount of the analyte of interest in the sample from a sensor signal indicative of an amount of said product in the measurement chamber provided by the sensor prior to termination of said interaction; known interaction kinetics between the analyte of interest and the activator at the defined temperature and the defined concentration; and the interaction time at time of generation of the sensor signal. A method of detecting an analyte of interest in a sample using such a system is also disclosed.

Device, system and method for detecting an analyte in a body fluid sample containing a plurality of cells

Methods for preventing aggregation of detection particles in a test for detecting a multi-epitope target analyte comprising two or more similar or identical epitopes in a sample and/or for determining the concentration of the multi-epitope target analyte in a sample by applying a first capture entity which can specifically bind to at least one epitope on the multi-epitope analyte and block the at least one epitope from binding to a detection particle. The detection of the multi-epitope target analyte may further include the use of a second capture entity, which can specifically bind to the same or a similar epitope of the multi-epitope target analyte as the first capture entity. The multi-epitope target may be detected through the use of a system comprising a sensor surface and the use of a first capture entity to block the at least one epitope from binding to a detection particle.

Reagents, methods and devices to prevent aggregation in particle based tests for the detection of multimeric target molecules

During an assay, optical measurements are made at a sensing surface (), and at least one 'homogeneity-image' of the sensing surface () is generated. From this image, an 'homogeneity-indicator' is determined for at least one region of interest, and the optical measurements are then evaluated in dependence on said indicator. The homogeneity-indicator may for example be a binary value which indicates if an inhomogeneity was detected or not. If an inhomogeneity was detected, all optical measurements may be rejected, only measurements for the involved region of interest may be rejected, or measurements for a selected sub-area of the involved region of interest (ROI) may be rejected.

Concurrently evaluating assays with optical inhomogeneities

The invention relates to a method and a biosensor system () for the detection of target components (TC) in a biological sample. In a preferred embodiment, magnetic purification particles (PP) are added to the sample that can bind interfering components (IC) (if present) which interfere with the detection process. The purification particles (PP) with bound interfering components (IC) may be removed from the sample and transferred through a magneto-capillary valve (MCV) into a waste chamber ().

Biosensor for the detection of target components in a sample

The evaluation results can be used to validate and/or correct the measurements obtained in the target region (TR).

Sensor device for magnetically actuated particles

A sensor system () includes a reader () with a sensor unit () and an accommodation Space () for an exchangeable cartridge (). The cartridge () is held in the accommodation space () by at least one contact element () which has an increased thermal resistance and/or a contact area of reduced size. Thus a more homogenous temperature distribution can be achieved within the cartridge (), reducing distortions which might adversely affect optical measurements.

A method and system for selectively processing a sample according to one of a plurality of different assays, for example, for detecting a certain target component in the sample, include a plurality of cartridges in which the processing of a sample can take place and which each contain a different set of reagents required for one of the assays.
