Intraluminal imaging devices and methods of assembling the intraluminal imaging devices are provided. For example, an intraluminal imaging device can include a flexible elongate catheter body and a rigid imaging assembly coupled to a distal portion of the elongate catheter body. A distal portion of the inner member is positioned within a lumen of the imaging assembly, and the flexible elongate member comprises a strain relief layer positioned around the inner member. A distal portion of the strain relief layer is positioned radially between the inner member and the imaging assembly, and a proximal end of the strain relief layer is positioned distally of a proximal end of the inner member, forming a transition region. The transition region can prevent bending or kinking of the flexible elongate catheter body when the intraluminal imaging device is navigating tortuous regions of the patient's anatomy.

Strain relief for intraluminal ultrasound imaging and associated devices, systems, and methods

A catheter is provided with increased flexibility and radiopaque measurement visibility. The radiopaque measurement bands are formed of a continuous coil of radiopaque material defined by areas of tightly packed coils spaced by areas of loosely wound coils. An intravascular imaging device is provided. In some embodiments, the intravascular imaging device includes a flexible elongate member sized and shaped for insertion into a vessel of a patient, the flexible elongate member having a proximal portion and a distal portion; and an imaging assembly disposed at the distal portion of the flexible elongate member, the imaging assembly including a flex circuit positioned directly around the flexible elongate member. In some embodiments, a method of assembling an intravascular imaging device includes obtaining a flex circuit including a first layer having a plurality of transducers and a second layer having an acoustic backing material; and positioning the flex circuit directly around a distal portion of a flexible elongate member.

Intraluminal ultrasound imaging devices, methods, and systems are provided. Some embodiments of the present disclosure include intraluminal devices configured to navigate and maneuver tortuous vasculature of a patient. For example, an intravascular imaging device can include a flexible support member at a distal portion of the imaging device. The flexible support member may support a plurality of ultrasound transducers and a plurality of control circuits. The flexible support member includes a flexible joint portion between a transducer portion and a controller portion. Introducing a flexible joint portion between the transducer portion and the controller portion can provide for greater flexibility of the imaging device and enable the device to navigate tortuous regions of a patients anatomy.

Flexible support member for intraluminal imaging device and associated devices, systems, and methods

Improved intraluminal imaging devices and methods of manufacturing the devices are provided. In an embodiment, an intraluminal imaging device can include a flexible elongate member configured to be positioned within a body lumen of a patient, the flexible elongate member comprising a proximal portion and a distal portion, an ultrasound scanner assembly coupled to and positioned distally of the distal portion of the flexible elongate member, the ultrasound scanner assembly comprising a plurality of electrical components disposed adjacent to a cavity of the ultrasound scanner assembly, and a coating extending over and directly contacting the distal portion of the flexible elongate member and a portion of the ultrasound scanner assembly to hermetically seal the cavity of the ultrasound scanner assembly. The coating provides a uniform barrier layer extending over a junction of two or more components having diverse cross-sectional profiles to prevent ingress of external fluids into the scanner assembly.

Some embodiments of the present disclosure are particularly directed to imaging a region of interest in tissue with photoacoustic and ultrasound modalities. The one or more optical emitters and the measurement apparatus may be moved together synchronously. The measurement apparatus may be configured to receive sound waves created by the interaction between emitted optical pulses and tissue, and transmit and receive ultrasound signals. The medical sensing system may also include a processing engine operable to produce images of the region of interest and a display configured to visually display the image of the region of interest.

Systems, methods, and devices for using ultrasound for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are provided. Ultrasound signals may be transmitted and/or received by ultrasound transducers in an ultrasound device positioned within the anatomy of a patient. The ultrasound transducers may be arranged in an array such that a first segment of the array is configured to transmit ultrasound pulses and receive ultrasound echoes for diagnostic procedures and a second segment of the array is configured to transmit ultrasound pulses for therapeutic procedures. The received ultrasound echoes may be used to generate two- or three-dimensional images of the anatomy.
