An electronic device includes a display, wherein the display is configured to present a user interface, wherein the user interface comprises a coordinate system. The coordinate system corresponds to physical coordinates. The display is configured to present a sector selection feature that allows selection of at least one sector of the coordinate system. The at least one sector corresponds to captured audio from multiple microphones. The sector selection may also include an audio signal indicator. The electronic device includes operation circuitry coupled to the display. The operation circuitry is configured to perform an audio operation on the captured audio corresponding to the audio signal indicator based on the sector selection.

A method for displaying a user interface on an electronic device is described. The method includes presenting a user interface. The user interface includes a coordinate system. The coordinate system corresponds to physical coordinates based on sensor data. The method also includes providing a sector selection feature that allows selection of at least one sector of the coordinate system. The method further includes providing a sector editing feature that allows editing the at least one sector.

A method of processing audio may include receiving, by a computing device, a plurality of real-time audio signals outputted by a plurality of microphones communicatively coupled to the computing device. The computing device may output to a display a graphical user interface (GUI) that presents audio information associated with the received audio signals. The one or more received audio signals may be processed based on a user input associated with the audio information presented via the GUI to generate one or more processed audio signals. The one or more processed audio signals may be output to, for example, one or more output devices such as speakers, headsets, and the like.

One example device includes a camera; a display device; a memory; and a processor in communication with the memory to receive audio signals from two or more microphones or a far-end device; receive first location information and second location information, the first location information for a visual identification of an audio source of the received audio signals and the second location information identifying a direction of arrival from the audio source; receive a first adjustment to a first portion of a UI to change either a visual identification or a coordinate direction of a direction focus; in response to the first adjustment, automatically perform a second adjustment to a second portion of the UI to change the other of the visual identification or the coordinate direction of the direction focus; and process the audio signals to filter sounds outside the direction focus, or emphasize sounds within the direction focus.

An electronic device for controlling noise is described. The electronic device includes a force sensor for detecting a force on the electronic device. The electronic device also includes noise control circuitry for generating a noise control signal based on a noise signal and the force. Another electronic device for controlling noise is also described. The electronic device includes a speaker that outputs a runtime ultrasound signal, an error microphone that receives a runtime ultrasound channel signal and noise control circuitry coupled to the speaker and to the error microphone. The noise control circuitry determines at least one calibration parameter and determines a runtime channel response based on the runtime ultrasound channel signal. The noise control circuitry also determines a runtime placement based on the runtime channel response and the at least one calibration parameter and determines at least one runtime active noise control parameter based on the runtime placement.

Electronic devices for controlling noise

Systems, devices, and methods are described for recognizing and focusing on at least one source of an audio communication as part of a communication including a video image and an audio communication derived from two or more microphones when a relative position between the microphones is known. In certain embodiments, linked audio and video focus areas providing location information for one or more sound sources may each be associated with different user inputs, and an input to adjust a focus in either the audio or video domain may automatically adjust the focus in the another domain.

In-band signaling may be used between two stations to determine the capabilities of the stations and/or send actionable information between the stations participating in the call. The in-band signals are indicative that the station that is transmitting the in-band signals can use in-band signals as a conduit to send and/or receive various types of information and are used to probe whether the receiving station can operate similarly. If the receiving station detects and reacts to the in-band signals, then both stations can pass control information and data as well as enhancements between each other, without any need of infrastructure upgrade and/or quality compromise to legacy phone users. Additionally or alternatively, out of band interfaces and watermarking may also be used.

After a call is established between two stations using a codec that has been negotiated during call setup, in-band signaling may be used between the two stations to change the codec that is to be used. The in-band signals are indicative that the station that is transmitting the in-band signals can operate with a second codec and are used to probe whether the receiving station can also operate with that second codec. If the receiving station detects and reacts to the in-band signals, then both stations change to communicate with the second codec. The second codec has compatible packet sizes of the deployed (originally negotiated) codec without any need of infrastructure upgrade and/or quality compromise to legacy phone users (i.e., stations that cannot operate with the second codec).
