Disclosed are alkyl lactone-derived hydroxyamide and alkyl lactone-derived hydroxyester used in compositions and methods for inhibiting corrosion. The alkyl lactone-derived hydroxyamide and alkyl lactone-derived hydroxyester are reaction products of an alkyl lactone and an amine, and an alkyl lactone and an alcohol, respectively.

Alkyl lactone-derived corrosion inhibitors

Methods for treating a producing wellbore of a subterranean reservoir include obtaining a side stream flow of a produced fluid from a production tube of the wellbore at a location above the surface of the earth; providing an eluting contact of the side stream flow of produced fluid with a treatment material to form a side stream flow of treated produced fluid; and directing the side stream flow of treated produced fluid into the wellbore at a point below the surface of the earth. Apparatuses suitable for carrying out the methods include an elution device fluidly connected to a side stream of produced fluid flowing above the surface of the earth and situated to direct the side stream toward the elution device to provide an eluting contact of the produced fluid with a treatment material disposed in the elution device, then direct the treated produced fluid into the wellbore.

Elution systems for treatment of subterranean reservoirs

Compounds, compositions and methods are provided for reducing, inhibiting, or preventing corrosion of a surface, using a polyester polyamine compound. The polyester polyamine compound having a structure corresponding to Formula 1 or 2, or a salt thereof: wherein Ris independently alkylene; Ris independently hydrogen or —COR; Ris independently alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, or alkaryl; Ris independently alkyl or alkenyl; Rand Rare each independently hydrogen, alkyl, or alkaryl; m is an integer from 1 to 10; n is an integer from 3 to 10; and wherein at least one Ris —COR.

Polyamine-polyesters as corrosion inhibition

A polymer composition has been developed that comprising an oil-in-water emulsion comprising an aqueous phase comprising water and an emulsifying surfactant having a cloud point of less than 80° C. and a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) of greater than or equal to 8, and an oil phase comprising a high molecular weight oil-soluble polymer, wherein the oil-soluble polymer comprises a copolymer derived from reaction of a hydrophobic monomer and an ionizable monomer in a weight ratio from about 999:1 to about 80:20. Methods of using the compositions for drag reduction and corrosion inhibition are also disclosed.

Emulsion polymers and methods for improving pumpability

A polymer composition has been developed that provides low viscosity oil-in-water polymer emulsions that release the polymer in the emulsion at a faster rate and without an additional surfactant when the emulsion is added to a hydrocarbon stream. Use of a temperature-sensitive emulsifying surfactant facilitates inversion of the oil-in-water polymer emulsion when applied to a hydrocarbon composition at a temperature sufficiently high to destabilize the emulsion. These compositions are particularly useful as drag reducers for delivery to a subsea flowline via an umbilical line.

Self-inverting polymer emulsions

Methods of employing corrosion inhibitors with oxidizing and/or non-oxidizing biocides, such as peroxycarboxylic acids, to provide corrosion protected compositions are disclosed. Various corrosion inhibitors further provide biocidal efficacy in addition to the corrosion protection providing further benefits for application of use. Methods of employing corrosion protected biocide compositions, such as peroxycarboxylic acid compositions, for corrosion protection are particularly well suited for treating fluids intended to flow through pipes, namely in the energy industry, water and paper industries, etc. Methods providing suitable corrosion protection in comparison to untreated systems and corrosion protected systems using conventional corrosion inhibitors, such as quaternary amines and imidazolines commonly used in the industry, are disclosed.

Oxyalkylated surfactants as corrosion inhibitors

The present disclosure describes solid compositions comprising a paraffin inhibitor and a corrosion inhibitor. The paraffin inhibitors include polymers having various repeat units containing one or more ester moieties. The corrosion inhibitors can be imidazoline compounds, quaternary ammonium compounds, or a combination thereof. These solid compositions can be used to treat subterranean hydrocarbon-containing reservoir and can inhibit or reduce paraffin deposition in the reservoir and/or inhibit or reduce corrosion in a piece of equipment in contact with the reservoir.

Aromatic amine epoxide adducts for corrosion inhibition

Disclosed are oleyl propylenediamine-based compounds used in compositions and methods for inhibiting corrosion. The method comprises introducing into a fluid source a composition comprising one or more oleyl propylenediamine-based compounds comprising Formula I:

Graphene quantum dots are functionalized by covalently bonding a corrosion inhibitor molecule thereto. In a useful method, a corrosion inhibitor compound is blended with a graphene quantum dot-tagged corrosion inhibitor compound, and the blend is applied to a metal surface, such as the interior of a carbon steel pipe. The blend inhibits corrosion arising from contact with produced water generated by hydrocarbon recovery from one or more subterranean reservoirs. The produced water having the blend dispersed therein is irradiated with a source of light having a selected first range of wavelengths, and the luminescent emission of the graphene quantum dot-tagged corrosion inhibitor is measured at a selected second range of wavelengths, thereby providing for real-time measurement of corrosion inhibitor concentration within the pipe.

Compositions and methods for corrosion inhibitor monitoring

Disclosed herein are graphene quantum dot tagged water source treatment compounds or polymers, and methods of making and using. Also described herein are tagged compositions including an industrial water source treatment compound or polymer combined with a graphene quantum dot tagged water source treatment compound or polymer. The tagged materials are tailored to fluoresce at wavelengths with minimized correspondence to the natural or 'background' fluorescence of irradiated materials in industrial water sources, enabling quantification of the concentration of the water source treatment compound or polymer in situ by irradiation and fluorescence measurement of the water source containing the tagged water source treatment compound or polymer. The fluorescence measurement methods are similarly useful to quantify mixtures of tagged and untagged water source treatment compounds or polymers present in an industrial water source.

Fluorescent water treatment compounds and method of use

Disclosed herein are corrosion control compositions comprising one or more multiple charged cationic compounds to reduce corrosion of metal surfaces in a water system. The multiple charged cationic compounds are derived from polyamines through a ring-opening reaction with an epoxide or two reactions: an aza-Michael addition with an activated olefin having a cation group and a ring-opening reaction with an epoxide. The disclosed compositions are found to be effective corrosion inhibitors for water systems.
